with this guy as the driver, definitely 5.5gen 6 speed. if he can do 14.28 with a stock 4th gen imagine what he would do with a 5.5gen. this is something that i would like to see.

there is another guy on here that ran 14.01 in his stock 5.5gen 6speed, but i would still like to see Neal get his hands on one at the track.

Typical Stock: high-15's
Best Stock: 15.6 (deezo, who is also a big guy)
a mod or two: 15.1 (mzmtg, just intake)

thats a negative dave, i think its too heavy and the power increase isn't substantial enough to justify the added weight

Speaking from personal expierence, I have ran both, a 5.5 6MT and a 7th gen, down the same track.. Now this is my 1st 6sp car I have ever owned and when I ran it, I was fairly new to the transmission. My best time for the 5.5 gen was a 14.3 at 97 MPH, and my best time for a (rental) 7th gen was a 14.4 at 95.

From a dig, Im sure i can beat a 7th gen because CVT tranny is garbage at WOT from 0 MPH. But from a 40 roll, it would be a drivers race! (in the 7th gen, your still in 1st gear at 40 MPH)

Wow. You gotta respect that. I'll take a small slice of humble pie.

Well, I just aquired a 3rd generation and I have to say it is the quickest Maxima I have ever driven.

GXE model to boot!

OK, so I've never driven any of the other years......

We've got an 1/8 mile track 20 minutes from me, might have to take it out and see what it really does!

Fun thread, nothing wrong with that.

Just watch the many youtube videos of the 07-08 Maxima's beating every prior year maxima... period.

The 7th Generation Maxima is currently the fastest, beating the 6th. But it must be deciphered that the 07-08's are significantly quicker than the 04-06's

The 6.5 gen had improved visuals, as most mid-model refreshes do on just about any car. However, since over 40 percent of the Org membership rocks a manual transmission, it's an uncommon opinion here that the 6.5 CVT is a driver's car.

But if you saw a youtube video... well there's your answer then.

I'm not a fan of the CVT and my next Nissan will be either a G37 Coupe or Sedan....In Canada a new Maxima is more expensive than a G37 sedan! Saw one on the lot two days ago while at my dealer for my engine mount replacement under my extended warranty. The premium Max was over $43K! My performance mods include the NWP spacers, UDP underdrive pulley, NWP Via Plate, Front Strut bar, EIbach Pro Kit 1 lowering kit, KYB GR2 shocks, AEM CAI, Custom exhaust plus removal of resonator, Y-pipe, rear strut bar, NGK Iridium plugs, after-market rotors front and back, Hawk ceramic brake pads...(you need to stop too). My next mod is a computer and the Jet sensor.

Ok, I'm not stock...but I'm fast....

Hahaha I remember saw your maxima since couple years at the julep nissan meeting. I see your car still look amazing !!! I'm about to buy my 3rd maxima, a 2002 SE 6Speed full load. Just have to sell my 240SX S14 Kouki before. I will post picture here if I buy it.
