the VQ engine would be better if.........

So I thought I would start this thread to see what the general feel of the forum is for the evolution of the venerable VQ35 engine........to see what you guys would want the engine to have to be better.....and we all know that this engine rocks as is....but let's see how it goes

I'll start with.....Direct Injection....I think that this has to come sooner or later in Nissan's advancement of their engines...

A turbocharger, or two perhaps. Better piston rings.

Not to mention that the VQ series has apparently already had its experimentation with direct injection.

VQ25 and VQ30DD anyone?

I wish the engine has diamond plated AC components and seals that are made of some indestructible material from Mars.

I am tired of this A/C LEAK!!!!!!

I would add a turbo and improve the valve train. I would NOT add DI, until the engineers figure out how to better prevent deposits on intake valves since there is no fuel wash as in PFI (Port Fuel Injection) engines.

Tree Fitty Zee?

Although I do think it would be kind of cool for our cars to be returned to RWD, I see a potential for a ton of understeer issues, just based off of the way the car handles and responds going into corners at higher speeds.

Was thinking Infiniti, but yeah, 350 does it up appropriate.

I suppose I went OT. Speaking solely about the engine, it rocks at the top of the NA V6 world. (Well, for it's time. Nissan's 3.7, and Ford's new V6 are pretty impressive power plants.)

Well, even today, comparing it to other V6s in its class, our VQ still puts out pretty impressive numbers.

As far as Ford's new motors, I'm extremely impressed. I drove a 2010 Fusion, and even with just the basic 3.0 V6, it moves quite well.

Even the 2010 Mustang with the 4.0 (supposedly putting out a wimpy 225? HP) was quite responsive when I drove it.

As far as your Infiniti comment, I forgot a few more of the Infiniti models have RWD versus their Nissan counterparts.

If I could find a G35 sedan with RWD, I wouldn't mind making that my next vehicle. I need something with four doors, cause I usually end up playing DD whenever my friends and I go out.

I hate to say it, but one of the best-sound V8s around is a Mustang with a nice catback on it.

There's something about that 4.6 that sounds awesome at WOT. The only sad part is it's all bark and no bite.

The Cobra GT 500s already have 5.0's in them.

Are they still using the 4.6's? I thought they switched to the 5.0 for 2010.

nah...i mean the GT...they are getting rid of the 4.6L and introducing the new 5.0 for 2011....will have at least 412hp...double overhead cams...11.0:1 compression...variable valve timing on intake and exhaust....and a 7K redline......looks bad **** too...

I can't even imagine how much R&D and hours of custom work went into getting that V8 engine and tranny to fit into that little G35.

I actually read an article where Nissan actually considered putting a V8 in the GTR but decided and I quote "we decided to stay with a V6 in our car we didn't want to take the American path"
And I respected Nissan for that, talk about fallowing a differentiation strategy

My suggesttion would be a NISMO version.....we all know thats not gunna happen.
