95-5spd Max vs. 93Legend 4dr auto

OK, I did a search... so don't worry - and everyone said the maxima wins... I have raced this guy back when I was automatic, (he is one of my friends) and I would get about 1-maybe2 cars on him off the line, but when we hit 3rd, he would pull right by me... (100mph).. our car's top end worries me. Since then I have converted my car to 5spd and done a couple little mods... now he wants to race again just to see how much it improved.. except he wants to run them all the way, (topspeed).. do I have anything to worry about? His top end has me scared, but I'm 5spd now so I should be well above, yeah? I raced a Integra TypeR which I could lead until we broke 100, then he would catch up ..
how close with the legend be ?

Well, MT ran the '93 Legend Coupe 6-speed manual 0-60 in 7.5 secs, and the auto would be slower than that. And we all know that MT did 0-60 in 6.6 secs in the '95 Maxima 5-speed, so I don't see how you'll have a problem, even on the top end.

Harold my friend, you have nothing to worry about. Well wait a sec...have you got a ypipe yet? Ok, anyway, there is a kid in town with a '92 legend(auto), and he thought his car was quick. So he wanted to race me one night when he had his g/f with him. To make a long story short, lets just say I made him look silly. Now, I have to admit, his car was a lot faster than I thought it would be. I think if I was an auto, or he was a 6spd, I might have had a lot of trouble. We did a punch from 40mph, I would have a car by 60mph. But from a 3rd gear punch(60mph), I couldn't even pull a car until 90mph!! I was actually impressed with the legend's automagic. I think he had an intake though. if you want anymore details ring me up on aim. later

Some of us autos can do the 0-60 in about 7.1 seconds.

Yeah, I'm sure of that. I've had no problem keeping up with or pulling on 5-speeds.

A buddy of mine has a 93 Legend 5sp and my cousin has a 97 Max 5sp. I was in the Legend when the 2 of them decided to try a stop-light race. There were 3 of us in the Legend and 4 in the Max. My cousin had an intake only (added a Y-Pipe a couple months later). Long story short we went up to about 90. By that time my cousin had about 3-4 car lengths on us. It was no contest. A stock 4th or 5th gen MT Max can take any stock Legend. The GS 6sp Legend might be closer though.
