Which mods to keep, which to sell (LONG)

If you haven't already read, I just got a new 99 SE this weekend.

Now, it was already slightly modded, so I have choices about which mods I keep from either the new 99 or my 97 GXE and which I sell.

Intake

The 97 has a PR CAI and the 99 has a Stillen Cone Intake. I was actcually thinking that I didn't want to cut the fender in this car, so I was planning on using the upper part of the CAI in combo with the Stillen Intake. I know it won't produce the low end grunt or sound of the CAI, but I don't mind, and it will be interesting to see if it will help top end power as some claim.

Y-Pipe

The 97 has a Cattman SS Y-pipe, and the 99 has a Stillen (not sure if its SS or not...). The Cattman is quiter (doesn't hiss as much at WOT), so I think I'm going that route, unless anyone can convince me otherwise.

Catback

The 97 has an Apexi WS, while the 99 has a Stillen Muffler and Stock b-pipe. I need the stock b-pipe for returning my 97 to stock, so its either install the WS, or buy a Stillen B-Pipe and sell the WS. I'm leaning towards keeping the WS and selling the stillen muffler...any thoughts?

FSTB

97 has a Nissan and 99 has a Stillen. I don't see a difference, so I think I'm going to sell the Stillen, 'cause it will get me more in the "market".

Springs

97 has Sprints and 99 has H&R's. I'm thinking of keeping the H&R's for now and getting Ground controls soon. The sprints are a bit harsher than I'd really like, and after driving the theblue's car (with CG's), I think I'm hooked. Either way, I'll be putting my Koni's on the 99.

RSB

Both have a stillen bar, so one will be for sale shortly

UR UDP

Both have one...although I thougth I read about that SprintMax guy getting three. Maybe I can get 2 of them working on the same car!

Yes, one will be for sale with belts shortly.

Wheels

This is the kicker. The 97 has 17X8 Konig Monsoons. The 99 has 17X8 Momo Arrows. I like the looks of the Arrows, but I'm not sure they are what I want. I really like the way Gunmetal or dark colored rims look on a black car.

Something like this:

These are 18" OZ's that I like. So, I'm thinking of selling both the Monsoons and Arrows...any thoughts?

Other stuff will just be transfered from the 97 to the 99...the RT Cat, SMC STS, RSTB and clear corners.

That's it. Sorry this was so long!

I agree with all your decisions... the gunmetal wheels will look great on a black car. *cough*SSRCompetitions*cough* If it isn't already, get a good dark tint on the new one.

I agree with most everything except a few....

Catback...Is the Apexi all stainless? If so stick with that, I love apexi. If not, It might be better to go with stillen b-pipe in the long run...

yea

I agree with all your decisions too... except, I think I'd still install the PR CAI, just to feel good that you have the better of the power gains screw the fender hole, it won't be seen if anyone was to buy the car after you.

About the rims, good idea
But, I heard someone say OZ rims are heavy? I'd go for something else more lightweight, Also get a Stillen aero kit, I like how theblue's car looks with it.. black on black with a kit is tight as hell.

Just have a quick question about your spring choice... You think the sprints are too harsh and yet you want to get GCs? I've never ridden in a max with sprints, and I don't know what spring rates you elected to go with, but the default spring rates for GC are almost without a doubt the stiffest springs you can get for a maxima (besides getting custom rates on them).

Oh, don't get those Anthracite OZ F1 Cups either... not that they don't look good, but I have them as my race wheels and we dont need to look like twins now do we

I haven't seen a real picture of the SSR's yet, just the tirerack picture. Also the new car has 40% tint. I've had 64% on my 97 and like the darker much, much better. So, I'm going to get darker (maybe 75%) tint on the car this time.

I've ridden in both a max with Sprints (duh!) and CG's. theblue just got CG's installed and I rode/drove in the car and its much, much more comfortable.

As for the OZ wheels, those are exactly what I want. How heavy are they (appx.). Do you have any pictures of them? I can't find great one's on the net, let alone one of them on a Max. Thanks!

The Apexi muffler is stainless, the b-pipe is not. I know it won't last for ever, but I also don't really like the look and sound of the stillen muffler all that much.

However, the stillen b-pipe is 2.5", while the apexi's is 2 (or is it 2.25) like stock.

So, dunno...still on the fence about this one.

Thanks for the links. I'm not quite sure those are what I'm looking for...plus, on TireRack.com those are way to $$$. In 18" the OZ's are $312 and the SSR's are $449!!!! Yes, the SSR's are 8.5 wide, but I don't think I need that. 8" wide is more than enough.

Is it? Then let me clear this up. The 97 lets in 36% of the light, and the 99 lets in 60% of the light. The tint on the 99 doesn't even seem to do anything.

yes, thats ok, i would say 60% is worthless, i would get at minimal 35% bc thats the legal limit where i am, but ive seen up to 5% which is incredibly dark even so that it can make it hard to see and is a definite 5-0 attention grabber, get whatever you feel is worth it, just as long as its at least 35%

In New York State the cannot fail your inspection for illegal tints. Or important things, like the thickness of your rotors..

That's NY for ya'.
