Yes. It doesn't matter who owns the car.
Though, there are cases when the manufacturer wont warranty something that they say has been abused. For example, maybe the guy who had it before you blew the tranny up and brought it to the dealer with no rubber on the front tires. The dealer refuses to warranty it because they claim it has been abused. So the guy pays to fix the tranny anyway because he wants to sell the car. Now the car has a "restricted warranty" - meaning the trans isn't covered anymore.
