Hey guys, I am planning to eventually modify my maxima with: PRCAI, valve body mod, and possibly underdrive pulley and 5th gen muffler on my '98 GLE (auto). What kind of estimated performance increase can i expect in terms of HP, 0-60, 1/4 mile? Are the udp and muffler worthwhile investments for performance? i don't want to deal with emissions inspections so i'm not getting y-pipe, at least for now . I know that the real numbers need to be determined through testing but i just wanted to get ballpark figures.

prcai 5-10 hp
udp 4 hp
muffler 3 hp
vb faster shifts

might take .5 sec off 1/4 mile
mods have different effects on different cars, some people dyno's a loss with a udp but others love it.

y pipe is your largest gains in the list

have fun!!

Mods
You might want to rethink your position on the y-pipe. Many here have had no problems passing emissions. theMax is correct, y-pipe is your biggest performance booster outside of nitrous oxide. You will probably gain as much with the y-pipe as all the mods you listed as planned. Do a search on this. Good luck.

it's not THAT slow... but i'll learn my lesson after buying a bunch of mods and then realizing the hundreds of dollars i've spent on my max!

i did a search and people say that all you need to do is drive the car around a couple miles to warm up the main cat. but my car sometimes has to wait in line at the inspection place for a long time. how long would you say does it take the car to cool down and fail the emissions test, an hour, half hour, less?

Just romp on it on the way there.
It will be plenty warm. What month do you need inspection? It won't be a problem regardless.
