Who is the longest active member of Maxima.org?

I know I am prob not the oldest but I am still avtive and an old member on Maxima.org even though I dont have a maxima anymore. I joined in August 2001 and since my maxima (R.I.P Boosted 4th Gen) I have had an 04 Subaru WRX and now a 08 Subaru Legacy GT spec.B

When did you join and what car(s) have you had since joining?

LOL, u mean when it was hosted by a certain university server? Man those were the times. Esp when it would go down and we'd have group chats in AIM, geocities, or wherever we could congregate.

Anyways, there's a separate forum and thread about this stuff. I don't know when I officially started, but probably 96 or 97 in the 3rd gen forum and the "general" forum. I hosted the forum for a time while PeelBoy set up .org. I don't even know what happened to PeelBoy.

I wonder if we should try to do a documentary or timeline of .org?

yea!! that's it!

and when you would post, each reply would push the screen farther and farther to the right. so if a conversation lasted 20 posts, you'd have to scroll over about a mile to see the last post!

I'm fairly certain you were active before me. I remember the 4dsc. I would get frustrated on that board cuz it took forever to get answers. But what was great was that it was all technical stuff. No ricer mods. Then each month it'd get archived so we start fresh again.

Where's the Way Back Machine when u need it?!

I agree on the timeline or history of the org idea! Sadly I've only been a maxima owner/org member since September 2005 but I remember lurking in here back in like 2002 when I really wanted a Maxima

I loved my 96 maxima until the stillen Supercharger kept on busting apart. It was a great car and VERY cumfortable. I do however like my 08 Legacy spec.B better since I have been a Subaru owner since 2003.

Maxima BBS created..
Chad Cunningham, Andi Baritchi, Russel Zotz, Peelboy (don't member your real name) all took turns running the Maxima BBS.

Then Jamie (Jambo) came along and built maxima.org.. After a few years, he sold the .org to Y2KevSE, and then it bounced around a bit and finally wound up in the hands of IB.

I found the place back in mid '99 or so when Chad was running the board.

4dsc's forum got tired of spammers and the people that initially wrote the software quit supporting it-- among other issues-- so they shut it down. I started up a phpBB forum and it was going for a while, but now gets roughly 1 post per month. ha. I keep thinking about shutting it down, but it's still linked from 4dsc.com and I can't bring myself to pull the plug on it. it's free to host for me since it's on the same host as my personal site and blehmco, so I just ignore it instead of killing it altogether.

Lol, Sharif and I, lone UCSD .org members way back in the day.

I remember my 1st UCSD .org encounter. It was with Jaime Lanzty. He's since moved onto domestics and old skool classics. Never met him before, basically got into a stranger's car, he took me for a drive. Then he wanted to drink, so he let me drive. We get to the beach as the sun's going down. Little did we know, no drinks allowed after sunset. Fuzz on ATV's roughs him up a bit, writes him a ticket, they try to get me but all I had was juice. I think Jaime goes to court, tells him he just moved here from New York, and they drop the ticket.

Malik, when did u get started with .org?

Dr J

Good times. I was out of the loop for a couple months while the org was in infancy. Amazing it's been almost 10 years I've been on this board... I was lurking on the previous board when I found out I was getting my dad's maxima to see what I could do to it when it was mine

Love everybody bringing up memories. I started with the BBS right as the .org came into being. Loved the friends I met and all the mechanical help available.

I remember asking Jamie back in '01 for written permisson to use the logo for my first racing magnets. First one was an awful green on white one.

I lurked around Maxima.org for a month or two before joining

Looking through that list I remember a bunch of those names. All the 3rd gen guys have died out it seems.

I still have 4dsc.com as my homepage on my web-browser

I know I've been around since 2000, I think?? Probably was another forum in 1998? I've been here so long that for years this guy was telling me if I like BMWs so much, why don't I buy one already? My 335i coupe is nearly 4 y.o. today!

But I have to tell you the 1998 SE is still going strong!

earliest page I could find of maximadriver

http://web.archive.org/web/200201210...imadriver.com/

and maxima.org
http://web.archive.org/web/199910070...://maxima.org/

I was on this Site with a different Username way back in 2000 when my dad bought the maxima that I later bought from him in 2005 (I lurked 'til 07). My dad and I were checking out the cool things people were doing with their cars and such.

MaximaNET?
http://www.nissanx.com/old/htdocs/ (old copy of the site)

Duke revived it somewhat with MN, later renamed NissanX. Went well for a while but eventually tanked. I'm surprised he even still has the domain up.
