2011 Maxima 30th AE possible???

For the Nissan Maxima Fans...something to think about.

anyone help but wonder what nissan may have in stock for a 30th anniversary edition maxima for 2011?? My best guess on release date is..2011 models should be hitting lots in August.

I have two 5th gen maximas...and the ae 2001 guys love to represent their cars...10 years later in 2011 what additional touches do you guys think nissan will make available for 2011?? special edition color schemes on leather?? rims?? additional body cues?? decals, inside and out?? maybe a 6 speed manual!!?? rwd?? awd??

Lets get your feedbacks and opinions!

Good question........IDK, I do know that Nissan has added 3 new exterior colors to the 2011 line-up and they have added tinted headlight lenses for the SV version. I'm assuming that they will probably add engravements into the seats and probably a special color scheme to the leather like you said. Different chrome rims and chrome triming may be an option as well. The main question is will they do any upgrade to the engine like they did in 2001. Maybe an extra 10 to 15 horses. IDK, but I do know that the upgrade from the 3.0L V6 to the 3.5L v6 was a nice upgrade back in 02. We shall see..

The 20th AE only had 5 extra hp. And I wouldn't say it was an engine upgrade in 01

Just looked and it seems Nissan really did not raise much fuss over the 30th anniversary?

I dislike the fact they dont seem to care

personally i doubt they will bother, they don't seem to focus on the maxima as much as they used to.

as for what i'd LIKE to see? same as the 01 AE. Lip kit, blacked out headlights, and special wheels. an exclusive paint color would be pretty neat. And for ****'s sake a freaking 6 SPEED

pretty much, as well as the drivers. correct me if im wrong but its not lots of trouble to make a third of new Maximas 6spd correct? cant see why they arent

other Nissan models died still during their prime (240sx/Silvia, Skylines, etc) but it seems like Altimas are staying afloat, and Maximas are dying a slow death. after 4th gens, im sorry but im going are you thinking Nissan

And I recall reading that that 5 came from a less restrictive muffler...

Because the few Maxipads that dealers had that were 6spd's (3 or 4% of production from 02-06) they had a hard time moving off of the lots.....I think from the 1st gen to the 4th gen the 5spds did reasonably well (especially in the 2nd gen SE) and had more produced.....Times starting changing after say 2000 ish.

Yeah I think that they did that Anniversary Ed. in 01 because there was not a Z at that time, and as you said they wanted to do something special for its flagship at that time as they focused on it more. I even thought that were going to do a 25th Anniversay which is a big year for it in 06.....they did not do any special things with the 6th gen. Take at the Z's it has had several Anniversary Models: 10th An 280ZX in 80, 50th An 300Zx Turbo in 84, Some special ed in 88 (did special Max to that year), 35th An in 05 350 Z and 40th An 370Z in 10.

yeah everyones moving on to automatic now. even look at older cars like 240z, 3rd gen Celicas, 1st gen RX-7, etc. it seems like 75% of them were stick and 25% or less were automatic

i didnt know that the dealers had a hard time selling 6spd's, i thought that lots of people wanted one but Nissan didnt produce enough. but then again, Maximas were sporty until 5th gens, and 6th and 7th gens are luxury land yachts

Yeah they did, we seem to think that because of all of the enthusiast on this board. In "real" life not may people wanted them, and you are right about the 240sx's, Celica's etc most were manuals as well as Z's prior to the 350.

I know a manager at a local dealership and he's telling me their stopping production on the new Maxima for about 8 months to reevaluate their manufacturing of the CVT transmission because currently it's costing Nissan too much to make the CVT.

I dont know i am seeing alot of new maxima's around town! And around the area. Hopefully they notice that. Seems to me that the new maxima's are selling pretty good. But that could be an isolated incident. As far as 30 AE awd turbo? LMAO.

No, I think it's pretty much the same everywhere. There are 7th gens all over Nashville. They're a pretty hot commodity right now...

5 extra horsepower? Nissan should just slap on a Stillen intake and call it a day.

Very true it seems like they care more about the near luxury crowd than the old school enthusiasts thatoriginally showed interest in the Maxima.

6=speed would be very nice.

30th AE would be nice, but you would think there would be at least a few rumors or something by now

My brother in law works for a Nissan dealership and has his own little side shop where he repairs cars and he was telling me that they did have plans for an Anniversary Edition but wanted to keep the major features under wraps. He did mention an increase in horsepower and LED lighting but didnt mention where. He also stated that the wheels would change and there would be different rear lights and slightly better sound and sound system. I hope he is right. I would love to see a revamped edition. It makes me excited to know that they will at least have something planned for 2013!

In New Orleans, there are nothing but Maximas rolling around. I like to count whenever I see one and keep a tab on them... I always count more than 30 in a day! It's always new ones and I always feel tempted to drive that extra mile to the dealer and just trade mine in. Luckily, I want an FX!

main issue is that Nissan has not gone public with any major media exposure about their plans for the 30th ae. an upgraded sound system and leds, different rims (all mentioned in above post)....all seem to tell me its their attempt to make it more "luxurious" and nothing to make it sporty.
forget ever seeing a 6 speed maxima...rwd? im convinced not going to happen.
