Hi Everyone, I have one of these headunits in my maxima and recently it has started acting up. The face won't display anything once it flips over. None of the buttons work at all. I can hear music through the speakers and everything, but I can't switch stations or even lower/raise volume...GGGRRRRRRRRRRR!! Well last night I decided to spray some electronic spray all around the headunit and it started working again, but this morning to my surprise it stopped working again. Well I tried the spray again but it did nothing. Damn this sucks ***...I'm being forced to listen to Britney Spears and ****

Does anyone know how to fix this problem?? Damn this was an expensive unit back when my bro bought it new...I would hate to have to shell out for a new headunit(which won't be a kenwood). Any advice appreciated.

Thanks,
Kevin

not as bad as your problems you have stated, but mine makes weird grinding sorta hesitating noises as it rotates. I have the KDC-715S. I bought it used from a friend who used it less than a month and no he didn't abuse it. I'm prolly gonna get another headunit in the near future, so anyone want a Kenwood headunit?

Get a regular pencil and use the eraser end of it to clean the metal contacts. Just rub it on them till they look clean. This should fix your problem.

OT.

I use to have a Kenwood desk in my prelude and it really sucked! Problems started during the first month and I replaced it with a problem free Alpine deck.

Take a ball point pen and press the reset button on the front of the face plate. It will be a small hole in the front of the face that will allow the tip of a pen to reset the player. If that is not it check one of the inline fuses. Some of the models have an in line fuse for the display.

whoa thanks for all the responces...
...I really appreiciate it. I'm not really sure what model Kenwood I have because I left the the manuel in the glove box and its 4:30am and I just finished watching the Lord of the Rings.

I never thought about the reset button. I'm going to try that tomorrow nad see what I can do.

The idea of the eraser is good, but I can't get the face to stay in the open position. Lets say I get the face open, exactly what contacts are you talking about?? Please be more specific.

Thanks again everyone,
Kevin
