Agrrhh RUST!!

So im pretty sure we know of the infamous rust loving lower rad support....the piece where the front of the cross member bolts on to...well both of those bolts are no longer supporting the cross member due to that ugly rust on my A32 max......does anyone have a max for parts i need that lower piece asap. or a solution which would involve just cutting and welding some new metal in there

Order a new O.E. part online. Have a body shop replace it or look at a few well documented threads on here and see if you'd like to tackle it yourself.

Watch out with those aftermarket radiator supports as some people say they don't last long. I've seen someone weld flat stock in there to repair theirs. Looked like the best solution. There's a thread on here somewhere with pics.

i actually work at a body shop. lol its a pain in the *** the do the whole rad support cuz theres so many pinch welds. and aftermarket supports dont line up sometimes and they turn into a project/nightmare....i went to home depot and bought some 90degree angled steel plate. im gonna cut the center of the lower rad support and weld this piece in. shape kinda matches it pretty good. ....i can feel my motor starting to rock n pull everytime i take off from first o_0...****

That's exactly what I meant. I think this will be better than removing the whole rad. support. BTW the person that I mentioned: http://forums.maxima.org/7821076-post481.html

I just had that done to my car a month ago. As you know if you work in a bodyshop its not easy but I would go with an OEM support. My bodyshop got an OEM one for around $180. After it was installed I found a website that sells all OEM nissan parts www.nissanpartsconnection.com. They are selling the same part for $140.00

yea usually its a pain in the *** to get things aligned with aftermarket stuff. but its a pain doing these because they are welded and you have to drill out the welds. some cars are bolt on..this one unfortunately isnt. but if anyone is looking for oem stuff they have them at http://courtesyparts.com/ . i dont think itll be too hard to just fix that lower piece tho. ill try to get some pics up after i get to mine...if i remember to take any (thats usually the last thing on my mind)

Mine had a slight degree of surface rust (garage kept since new). I just repainted and applied a layer of clear caulk along the entire surface of the rail. Kind of just acts like a barrier to the wet.

Most people just weld a big bar across it. http://forums.maxima.org/7756830-post431.html
