People suck!!!

I was at the carwash yesterday to wash the salt off. As I was wiping off the residual water on the front of the car. I noticed that someone hit the front of my car between the driver side headlight and the tire. There is a huge scratch and dent. Then closer to the wheel well the paint is chipped away in 2 places. The worst part is, I don't have the slightest clue when it happened. I park far in the parking lot for a reason. I wish I knew who this douche is...

That has happened to me before. Luckily it is covered by insurance as part of the uninsured motorist coverage. My rates didn't go up for reporting it either.

Do you have the $250 deductible?? I will try to file a repot with the insurance.

Uninsured Motorist (UM) is coverage for medical in the event the at fault doesn't have, or doesn't have enough. It has nothing to do with property damage, unless the policy actually states "Uninsured Motorist Property Damage", which is rare on most policies with Collision coverage.

You're talking about either Collision or Comprehensive. Comprehensive would be for things like vandalism, broken windshield; collision is for a wreck. Collision has a set deductable, while Comprehensive is subjective to the type of repair...in that a windshield might be free replacement, but body paint repair would carry a deductable.

For something so small as the OP is describing, maybe only about $300 to repair at most, it would be a big mistake to file a claim. First off, if the repair costs less then the deductable DON"T FILE A CLAIM. If it's much more then the deductable, that's when you consider the claim. I would say, has to be at least $300 more then the deductible before I'd even consider filing a claim like this.

Of course if there is an alternate at fault party, and they have coverage for property damage, you would file the claim even if it was only a $50 molding replacement...

people do suck bro!! - i feel your pain - a while back someone dinged my passenger door and left a nice dent (small but a dent nonetheless). what makes things worse is that this happened at the parking lot at work!!

I have been parking crazy far, like you said, to avoid the whole issue and it still happened.

I definately feel your pain. Try as we might to park in a safe spot-others with not so nice rides just don't care about your ride or theirs and some will even go out of their way to make sure they leave a dent in your door if they see someone with a nice ride parked in the back 40.

it sucks, same thing happened to my stealth. Just in general not lucky with where i park, had hit and run, found over spray of paint covering one side, then the car got keyed. Some people really need to get a life. Like mentioned if cost is less than deductible never report it.

I know the pain. Happened to my Max a few months ago. It was the one and only time in years that I parked with people and it of course got hit. Needless to say, won't make the mistake of trusting people's abilities again. Will you be able to get it fixed by the insurance?

I had a similar expierence with my car. I ended up with a huge crack in my windshield in the non visible part. My suggestion for future reference would be to find a touch less car wash. I think that's fine just to get the salt off.

It wasn't the car wash. It was another car. I just didn't notice it until I went to the carwash. Someone prob at my parking lot at work swiped me and kept going.
