there was an old video on youtube where this 4th gen had cams loping really hard. and a 5.5 gen with cams also. got a friend here with cams on his 4.5 swapped 4th gen here in dallas but he isnt on the org
I've heard a 4th gen with S1 cams and if he didnt tell me he had them I would have never known. Also I've heard Jaypee99's 5.5 gen with BC stage 2 cams and the cam lope and very subtle. You'd have to really be listening for it to hear it.

Had to dig deep to find the thread. unfortuantly the vids dont work anymore. Check VQpower it may still work on there.

There are tons of Z and G videos with cams out there... but they generally won't sound like a Maxima since they run different headers and often have dual exhausts.

i saw that gold 4th gen on you tube i heard it with the full exhaust and the electric dump closed and, like most of you have mentioned, you cant really tell it has a set of cams. i wonder if the power gains of just the cams are worth the money

Peak gains aren't amazing... 15-20whp for a "normal" 260-264ish and 10.5-10.8 lift. However, It's gains under the curve by extending the power band after peak that make cams worth it.

It would be pretty stupid to do cams before finishing all the other important NA mods... Tuning device being one of the most important. The 00VI is fine, though.

ARP rod bolts, Revup oil pump, and HR springs/retainers (double shimmed) = the way to go along with cams for a safe 7500ish RPM build not including internals. With proper balancing, 8000+. As Dandymax has proven, going upwards of 8000 rpms on a stock balanced rotating assembly can cause shattered oil pumps so I'll probably be aiming for a rev limit around 7500-7600 depending on what's optimal for my shift points. Guess I'll leave 2-3whp on the table by keeping the stock harmonic balancer crank pulley also, especially since I already have an aluminum flywheel instead of the dual mass stocker.

Rod bolts are a problem earlier than valve springs (7100-7200), but both are needed to safely rev to 7500.

really?
