HELP!! brake bleed probs

I replaced the DS rear caliper and both rear rotors and pads today.. all went well till i got to the bleeding.. bled the rear 2 first, then ps front, then last the ds front.. it kept bleeding and bubbling, with a little fluid squirting from time to time, and the pedal never got firm.. drove it down the street and the pedal went almost to the floor.. looks like bubbles coming up in the Master Cyl when i pump the brakes. Did I do something wrong? I had a mechanic frined helping and he is totally baffled. Someone please help!

Did you let the MC run dry while you changed all those parts? If you did, you will need to bleed more. Anyway, I should be the last person to give advice on brake system since mine is so ****ed up.

Actually, the MC did get dry i think, but we kept adding fluid and bled it by pumping and releasing at least 15 times.. my legs r tired from holding the brake pedal to the floor. But maybe.....?

I think this will solve your problem!!!
Make sure you put the correct part on the correct side!!!!!
Meaning.. right caliper on the right side.. left caliper on the left side...the bleeding tip should be pointing up...
if you have them on the wrong side... then you will never be able to get the air out..

GOOD LUCK!

I just installed SS brake lines and I bled them in the following order : RR, LF, LR, LF. Making sure that the MC never drops below 1/2 and I also used a container with a tube so air doesn't get sucked back in. If one caliper has some air, I don't think the pedal would go to the floor, but check all connections for leaks too. Problem may be closer to the MC.

Good Luck.

When I first changed my fluid I accidentally let the master cylinder run dry too. It took a long time to finally bleed the system. I get going around in order to all the corners until the air finally went away. If this is the problem, all it takes is time, just keep doing them, they'll eventually get better as long as you didn't tear the seal on the piston in the master cylinder. Good luck

well, I gave up and took it to a brake place and they bled it for me.. seems to be working fine, but i don't know what they did that I couldn't.. oh well. Thanks for all your posts. BTW, don't go to midas for brakes.. they quoted me over 600 smackers to rr the rear rotors/calipers, turn front rotors, and new pads all around. They told me the calipers were 202 apiece, but i got mine at AutoZone for 55 bucks. Aside from my bleeding ignorance, the repair was a piece of cake.

Peace! and Merry Christmas

600 is probaly for new calipers. New calipers for my ford were 220 each and only 70 from autozone (but they were rebuild with a core trade)

glad to see you got your problem fixed
