An old racer trick is to put on of those "cool cans" on the fuel line going into the engine. you know, the metal can that has fuel line coiled inside of it, that you put ice and water into. Would this not lower the intake temp of the air in the combustion chamber when the two mixed? I can see it helping a boosted car out at the track. Would this work or not? I don't know if it has been talked about before or not. I saw a few of them in the Jeg's catalog, so I know they still sell them.

 

That would probably help some in warm weather - but - those cans are made for carburetted cars - 5-6 psi fuel pressure max, the fuel injected cars are 40+ psi so the lines and fittings in the can would have to hold that pressure.

 

You would also want to try to insulate the entire fuel line after that. The fuel would get pretty hot again as it got into the fuel rail that sits on top of the hot engine...
