Any none broke 6spders want to reprersent?

Well in bonestock form, it looks liek the Altima is making as much power as the dynoed 6 speed Maxima. Now this really makes me wonder about the power rating of the Maxima.

Things to note:

1- The manifold switchover occurs at a low 3500-3800rpms
2- Peak hp is at 5600rpms (just like the 4th gen)
3- 6600rpm rev limiter (just like the 4th gen)
4- Peak torque 3600rpms (~600rpms lower than most 4th gens)
5- Torque holds on to about 4400rpms before dropping (very much like the 4th gen)

I'll still stand by my comments that redline shifts are pointless for the 3.5 VQ. Power peaks and curves are nearly the same for the 3.5 VQ as they are for the 95-99 VQ. The ideal shift points would be as follows:

1-2 6500
2-3 6100
3-4 5900

I like the Stillen pics of then new altima so I guess if it's possible for me to make a car look like that, i think it would be worth it. All the extra cash I would be spendin on a max I could immmediately spend on mods for the altima

I'd much prefer to have the looks of the Altima and the IRS. But the Maxima's interior is very nice, plus the mild redo of the front end looks good. I just worry that if I got 2002 Maxima, I'd have to settel for the bumpy ride of the beam axle since I would have to lower the car. I waiting for some Altima guys to take their autos out to the track.

Have you seen a SAE corrected dyno of a 6spd max yet? Only one I saw was the one auto that dynoed in 2nd gear{189 HP and auto}, and then there was the one on the mustang dyno. So unless you have seen something I have not I have to ask, were do you come to the conclusion the altima is making as much power as the maxima?


I want to dyno my car but I have spent about $1500 in the last few weeks, so now it's time to recuperate . $125 a dyno at my local shop is a lot of money too.

Dave or anyone else who cares. When my max shifts from 2 to 3 {at redline} the RPM's start at 4600 RPM in 3rd.

how much does the average dyno cost? for how many runs? never looked into it before.

Usually about $75 for 4-5 runs. The only dyno with in a 2 hour ride is a ford dealership which is about 5 mioles from me. I only get 3 runs there . Atleast the guy really know's what he is doing and is cool.

i will be dynoing mine after the 1st of the year at a dyno in worcester. i want to hae in intake and do two baselines and two with the intake.

Then make your own! I like my little stillen intake because I can pop it on and off in 5 minutes, which is good if I have to go in for warranty work.

Dropping to 4600rpms is too high. You want to be hitting around 4300-4400rpms. You're overshooting you 3rd gear. Trust me.

In bonestock form on a Mustang dyno, the 6 speed dynoed out at 191fwhp. With an intake & muffler it did 198fwhp. Supposedly the Mustang dynos are slightly more conservative (I've heard ~5% conservative). If that's the case, that puts the 6 speed Maxima at 200fwhp or exactly the same power as the Altima.

I hope to see more Maxima dynos soon, but I think the truth will hurt. I'm guessing we'll see about 0%-3% difference on the dyno with a Altima/Maixma (ie neglible).

Listen! I said about 20x not to use those dyno numbers from the 6spd since they are not accurate! The dyno was incorrect in reading RPM and HP!!! The torque numbers of both the Altima and 6spd are the same and correct.

yea...and that same dyno under rated phat guy's 2K1 AE big time....

That torque line is straight. Im not used to that much torque in my 98 Accord V6. Below is my dyno chart run #4 is with intake,exhuast and ignition and dyno#8 is with addition of headers and random cat. No correction factor that day..actual HP readings..190HP at 6,000 RMPs and 173Ibs at 5,400 RMPS.
