seeing how horsepower gains are usually in the mid 30 range im expecting to see 315-330hp and the ability to choose your powertrain type would be FTW highly unlikely though.

If it's still FWD only, I don't really care what improvements they do

I expect the 3.7 engine. Some of the computerized options that Mercedes pioneered such as lane swerve detection.

For the last time, this WON'T happen!

3.7 is to be expected and maybe a half-a** AWD system but nothing too extravagant cause it will be FWD based.

Somehow or another I hope they make the 8th generation based off of the current Infiniti M37, The Maxima suddenly became a larger car with the 6th generation alot of people were attracted to its size 2004-2008, and yeah I agree with Kountz 430 above me there not gonna include lane detection at the maxima's level you gotta move up to the Infiniti if you want that but dont get me wrong it would be nice!!!

How long before people understand the concept that, the maxima is now for those that want all of the "infiniti" but at the cost of a nissan

The altima is nissan's 4dsc now.

Nissan is all over the place nowadays. They make everything from an all electric Leaf for the greenies all the way to the GTR for people that beat up the greenies and everything in between. No telling really what Nissan is gonna take the next Maxima. The way I feel about it, I think Nissan should have left the Sentra as a compact, the Altima as a sub-compact, and the Maxima as a mid-size, 4DSC, and left the full size models for Infiniti. The 5th gens were just the right size. Not too big, not too small, not too heavy.

I deal with enough electronics flying planes for a living I hope Nissan gets it right with the Maxima for the next generation.

I am sure most of us would like this, the 4th gens being back in productions with a 3.0l with more power and torque and bigger and wider and the designs are the same as the 95-99 now that will be great. The manual would be a 6 speed instead of a 5 speed. FWD definatly and a 5.5 gens to be back in productions without a burning oil issues and with a 3.5l with more power and torque. I would like to see the 0-60 times in 4-5 sec flat.

0-60 times in 4-5 sec?! The Maxima will never be a Corvette, Porsche or Ferrari. You can pretty much put that baby to sleep.

As others have stated, Manual is out the window. Less and less cars are being produced with Manual transmissions the further we move along. Instead you see a lot of Auto/paddle gear box set ups. Even in very expensive sports cars like Lambo's, Ferrari's, Aston's they've all scrapped Manual tranny's and went with Auto/paddle shifters. It's possible our children or even our grandchildren won't even know what a clutch peddle is by the time they can drive.

AWD is a possibility but it'll never be as good as a Subaru AWD. It's possible they could move up to the 3.7 but if they do I can't see them going FWD. That's a lot of power for a stock FWD.

It honestly needs to lose the CVT in favor of a conventional AT and MT trans. The 7-sp auto in the Infinitis would be nice.

^ yes. They just have to mount it in reverse. All jokes aside, a normal 6AT would be better for the max.

3.7 L engine tuned to regular gas, remote starter option, upgraded audio and NAV would be nice to see. Will be interesting to find out what the designers will come up with for the exterior - we have high expectations!

I like to see regular automatic not that crap CVT.
In a sports sedan 6 or 8 speed auto would be just fine.

You guys do realize the 5/5.5/6/6.5 were nearly identical in terms of wheelbase length/width, right?

The 6th gen only looked bigger than the 5th gen because of the design of the sheet metal. I also think the 6th gen may have had a bit more headroom in the rear.

That's no different than Cadillac dropping the Northstar V8 in a few of their FWD platforms. That's a lot of torque for a FWD car.

I expect it to be built with cheap materials, ugly chrome plastic emblems on the steering wheel, plastic headlight housings that cost aobut $45 to produce but have an MSRP of about $1000 each, basic analog gauges illuminated with blue or amber LEDs to make them appear to be high tech. Stuff like that.
