Amerikaner, I had to go the creative route, I just had the rear rotors and calipers done on the Max. The calipers seized and things went bad to worse from there! On the plus side, my ACC is working perfectly after alternately frying me for three days and then freezing me for the next three.

Temperamental Max!

Okay, here we are. Forgive my crowded cr*ptacular garage, Max is in there to have the knock sensor replaced today and I wasn't starting the engine to move him. Don't want to bake my hand!

Dreaming of the beach.

No pineapples, sorry. I didn't get to the grocery store. That being said, if this meets your approval, since we all have to do this at one time or another...

NEXT CHALLENGE (EDITED) - Your Maxima at the grocery store, with groceries.

No joy on the knock sensor replacement... out in 5 minutes and I don't even want to discuss how long trying to get the new one back in only to come inside to a notice that in three month my rent will be increased 45%!

Hopefully the grocery store with groceries works for everyone because right now, I don't have the brainpower to pick a new challenge.

Apparently crazy rules because this place ain't worth what they want for it. They're increasing the garage rent by doubling it... dirt floor, leaky ceiling and all - that's it in the pics above. The joys of living in the inner city?

Looking now and arranging for a skinny hand to come and thread my knock sensor bolt back in - yay family!. Trouble is, in this city, all the rents are similar for the same sort of places with no garage.

Well folks, my time has come. I am officially announcing my "retirement" from my updating the challenges in this thread. I feel like I have put my time in here and it's time for me to move along. If anyone else has an interest in taking over for me, that's fine. Feel free to shoot me a PM and I can explain how I have been doing things. I will continue to pop in from time to time and complete some challenges, but I feel like maybe someone else taking over will also bring in new ideas and hopefully revive this thread.

I wish everyone the best of luck in all their endeavors both on the org and personally.

Regards to everyone,
Ryan

PM Waxima... This is his idea and thread after all. If we don't find someone else to help out then the thread will die.

I realize it is his thread...but it was not his idea to have me do what I have been doing. I just took it upon myself, since he is never even on this thread, to do it and it was well received by him. But yeah, I planned on pm'ing him to let him know that he may be getting PM's from someone else from now on.

When I read "retirement", I thought you were dumping from the game entirely! That's good that you're not.

September Players:
2brosgixxer - (2)..........Amerikaner83 - (2)..........VGkid - (3)
LadyMaxLuvr - (3)..........T Behr904 - (2)..........Aackshun - (1)

Looks like there is a TIE!! To both our newer players!! VGkid and LadyMaxLuvr, our September winners! Congratulations!!!!

Current challenge: Your Maxima with a bowling ball(s) and a pair of bowling shoes (NOT something supplied by a bowling alley). (Posted 9/30/12 at 8:43pm)

Like 2bros, I am stepping out as well; something he and I have discussed. Similar to him, I came in to help everyone but have no "authority" as it were. I have said to 2bros, but will say to all, I stayed along primarily because of his help and support. I absolutely believe his effort helped the game keep going....beyond the accountability of the challenges, he provided invaluable ideas which helped to bring a lot of what we do here together. I do not believe my presence is required and absolutely agree with 2bros in that our stepping aside will hopefully encourage someone else to step up and renew the excitement of the game.

As far as what I have done? There is no method to my madness, just check the challenges, verify they were completed within the timeframe, and award points accordingly. If not completed on time, subtract or award zero points accordingly, LOL!! I do think two people should do this as 2bros and I have caught each others (few) errors and have helped make things fair and consistent. If everyone wants to continue with monthly winners, then signature contacts are as follows: Showdown, dee.signs, and Tigersharkdude.
I will likely still troll, couple of you are actually likeable! LOL!!

Again, thanks Ryan!! And thank you to everyone who has continued to make this game fun!

I basically just kept a running tally Through the month as challenges were completed. It was easier to update the challenges and points as i went along. Then at the end of the month, paste that info into the thread. I also copied the challenges and what I came up with for points and sent that to Chris. I also copied the direct link to my "challenge update post" and pm'd that to waxima so that he could update the first post. Since Chris is no longer going to be the second person, if anyone decides to take over, that's all something you guys can figure out, as Chris and I did.

Chris said it perfectly. He was a huge help and we were always bouncing ideas off each other to try to come up with ways to renew interest. Unfortunately nothing really took off. Like he also said, neither of us really had any authority but we wanted to keep the thread going as smoothly as possible and sort of "moderated" the best we could.

Thanks again Chris.

The game points really never meant anything in the beginning. Was more a means to confirm or deny the completion of challenges, at least as I viewed it.

This game can absolutely continue without someone tracking points. As always, it will simply require each player to hold each other accountable for original challenges and keeping players from cheating (ie: posting old images). The fun has, and should always be each person getting out with the cars they love and enjoy, just to do something different and fun. And what a great consequence to be able to bring those moments back into the community!

Well, if someone makes an easy to do challenge without requiring me to drive anywhere, I can do that. I.E., "Your Maxima parked next to some weeds", or "Your Maxima with the rear deck remove"

Since the thread's inception just shy of a year ago it became the second most viewed and replied to thread in the "general" forum area. At times it moved along quickly and others it did not. Chris Gregg and 2brosgixxer kept the thread on "life support" almost the whole time just by keeping track of everything. Even tried to make incentives to draw people in. But just like any other marketing ploy it was not as successful as anticipated.

Life, work, and family takes priority over everything in my book. Caring for my aging mother takes up most of my free time that i had when I'm not working. Amerikaner83 has a baby on the way. Just two examples that i can think of and it should be taken as just that. Not that anyone is lazy or wants the thread to die. Life happens.

Doesn't mean that this is the end of the thread or that we even need to keep track of who did what challenge and who gets points or not. Personally i like to take pictures and have a very nice camera to do so. Since my "inactivity" that started in July, i have tried to snag a few but was beaten to the post. Sometimes by just an few hours. Never gave up, just do not have the time.

The thread doesn't have to die, we just have to adapt it so that it doesn't. Any ideas? One i had was to do away with the time limit all together. Someone new pops in and see's that they can compete and does. Thing is that we cant let the thread leave the top 10 or 20 recently viewed threads for long.

makes sense Don...I agree.

I too have a kid coming in January, so I now that soon I'll be out of the game at least temporarily.

Looks like "Radio" above posted a challenge...max in weeds with "no shoes"...I assume this means no tires? I would venture to say tall weeds only would be acceptable. I ain't gonna be putting my max up on blocks for a pic... but I like the thought of the challenge...

Car in some grass so tall that you can not see the wheels. Ill keep my eyes out for someplace i feel comfortable backing into after i knock everything down where my car will be. 6th gen paint is fragile and chips/scratches easily.

Matter of fact, I'm going out for a drive to blow some steam off from work. Ill take my Nikon with me. Working from 7am-9pm is past getting old. Wish i could find another job that would pay all my bills and allow me to keep my lifestyle.

I saw a couple of old fire trail heads with over grown grass. It was dark, and foggy and there is a veterans cemetery on the other side of the tree line. Too creepy for me. Wont be able to get a daytime shot until this weekend.

Fixed. I will blame it on lack of sleep. I just got in from work forty five minutes ago. I get to sleep in tomorrow though. Only have to get up at 7:00am to get ready to be there at 8:00am to work another 10 to whenever hour shift.

I'm back and I should have checked this thread before I went out today on my snipe hunt. A few of the apartments I looked at would have qualified for this on their yards alone. Apparently, I can get affordable and rathole, or out of my league and nice, but not affordable and nice. I hate living in a white collar city.

Hmmm, tall grass and hidden Maxes huh?
