Modifying the brake pedal for your shoe size?

Hi Folks

I have very wide feet (13eee) and every time I transition from gas pedal to brake pedal, my foot catches the bottom of the brake pedal.

Honestly, it's dangerous. I can't even drive with boots in the winter time.

Does anyone else have this problem and how have you resolved it?

Moved the brake pedal over (unweld and reweld)?

Cut off part of the right-side of the brake pedal to reduce the width?

Anything else?

Thanks
Mike

PS. No comments about selling my Max cause I wouldnt sell it any more than you would.

EDIT: It's an automatic transmission, by the way.

Manual or Automatic?

You could probably take the pedal off and use a torch to do some fancy metal bending to suit your needs. I wouldn't do any welding unless you're super confident that it won't snap in the middle of some hard braking.

Sorry, automatic.

Good point with the welding. A local car restorer suggested rewelding the brake but i have the same concern you mentionned.

Get a clutch pedal from the wrecking yard. Weld the clutch pedal and brake pedal together low enough it wont interfere with the hangar. Use some rectangular box tubing for this. Cut off the original brake pedal below the welded in link.

Man, if I wasn't so far away I'd come over and pay you to do this.
Thanks for the idea.
Do I need to remove the brake pedal to do this, meaning is it safe to weld inside of a car?

Unfortunately I never learned to weld. I would lay down a heavy blanket to protect the carpet and tack weld in the car. Remove and finish welding. DONT USE POLYESTER, use a cotton blanket.
