KYB AGX Adjustable Struts for 4th gen
KYB AGX Adjustable Struts for 4th gen
After looking through the advanced suspension threads I noticed nobody has posted much about the KYB AGX Adjustable struts. I ordered the rear pair today to see how they work out($140/pc), Im pretty confident they will be high quality. Im considering putting some Tokico's on the front because I can get them for cheaper than the KYB's and they seem to be better suited to the front wheels anyways. Has anybody tried these yet? Anybody heard anything bad about them? Please post away and be critical if you think they are bad, Im just looking for actual personal experiences not opinions because its not the brand you have on your car so therefore it sucks lol. I posted this in the advanced suspension thread as well for future readers to find more easily.
For the price they should allow you to use them with lowering springs(it voids the warranty if used with lowering springs. Thats my only gripe. I suppose it because some people drop there car to the floor and look at speed bumps as a ramp to catch air on lol
I'm on kyb agx's an s-techs an there nice! I have my front set to 2 an the rears are still set to 8 which prev. Owner had them set to, rides good for me but them s-techs are a little stiffer then I wanted. Ima mess around with the setting an see where it takes me lol
rears are 1-8
I thought AGX were king **** back in the day. About 10 years ago I bought a set and paired them with Eibachs, Intrax, and Cunuck Motorsports springs. After fiddling with the settings I could never get a good ride on the street. I ended up getting Konis and could not be happier. The ride is much more controlled.
AGX adjust both compression and rebound. Crank that **** up and it feels like rocks. That is OK for launching your car at the track, not good for the street or highway. Illuminas do the same thing but feel better overall. They are not valved as stiff. Still both are a waste of money IMO.
Konis on the other hand, adjust only rebound. This means the shock can be dialed in better. Also you can shorten the Koni inserts for added wheel travel when lowered. I have paired Konis with Stechs, Eibachs, and Ground Controls. They all rode light years ahead of the AGX. No more harsh AGX for me.
So if you like comfort, AGX is your worst option.
Yea, I have coil-overs. Installed the AGX's today and they are great but heard they fluctuate with temperature? we will see I suppose. However, I wish I went with the Tein h-tech springs...I disagree that they are too stiff though, I set it to 1 and 8 just to see the difference and it was drastic. The 1 is the "stock" setting but it felt stiffer to me but then again my struts were badly worn. I have it set to 6 and its fun on the local mountain roads. I try to avoid highway driving and will always take the windy back roads
