Engine is hot, VERY hot. Pop sits in engine. Engine is hotter than hell when warmed up and just idling. When you push gas, all hot air is sucked into engine. Hot air is thin. That thin air takes away torque and lags you for the first several gulps it takes.
CAI gets it air from OUTSIDE the engine bay. So when you gun it, cool air rushes into your engine, adding torque.
Can't argue with the law of thermodynamics.
Soon2bMaxed, get the CAI. It will put a smile on your face. Sprinty is right the Y-pipe shows better gains, but when it is combined with the CAI it works even better.

IMHO, our engine sounds too quite and a little whiney without an intake. Get the intake foo unless you like gentle woman quiteness.

Remember the Callaway Vettes with the integrated air duct in the hood? Somebody needs to design a CF hood with the duct where the POP is.
