Those roads are common in Japan. As for
speed I have to guess no more than 50MPH
or 60MPH. 50mph is the fastest anywhere you can go in Japan on the toll road and
18mph is the normal city driving.

The headlights look like S14 to me. I'd venture to say that was on a track, it looked like there were rumblestrips. That drifting is weak compared to THIS:

a little off topic since it has nothing to do with the maxima...but nontheless you hit a soft spot in me with drifting...yes, japanese only drift with RWD cars, drifting with FWD cars is not impossible but so short and uneventfull that its not worth the trouble or the tires.
the car is the S15 Silvia (latest silvia which never reached the US), visible by its unique tail lights
drifting takes basically two things, bald tires and a rear wheel drive car, sprinkle in a dab of high-hp and you have yourself some sideways goodness! please spare me the tech talk (yes you need negative camber in the front..bla bla bla)
the japanese know that when it comes to good cars, RWD is best. most of the drifting cars they use are actually pretty cheap and mostly beat up( due to their very rare foul-ups ) cars. most of the cars are 80's toyotal corollas (AE86) because of their relatively low price and RWD platform, and LOTS and LOTS of nissan sylvias (240 here in US). youd be surprised how many old silvias have 180 front ends, in japan if you mess up your front end, its way cheaper to put on a 180 front end that the silvia (since the silvia front end had the pop up lights in the early 90's). (or is the other way around?i cant remember...but yea, I think actually its the 180 that had the pop up lights..and people use silvia front ends on the 180's...anyways, im falling asleep so i cant remember) its very easy to spot a drifter, very rarely do they have any kind of body kits, they have body damamage in the weirdest places (from side-swiping mountains and various guard-rails) and always will you notice that their front tires have negative camber while the rear tires have no camber not to mention no tread! (its a good practice to drive on good tires and then pop on the baldies after you get to the mountains)
.
whew, i talk too much...but I do love drifting! cant wait for december of this year...getting my LSD...and my 240
