Greetings! New Member

After lurking in this site for the past month, I decided I should finally join this very informative site. I picked up a 96 Maxima last month and have been busy getting it up to my standards. So far have replaced the radiator, rear struts, gave a it a tune up and cleaned it up, pics to follow.
After owning old Subaru's for the past 10 years, finally decided to find a car with some decent power.
I haven't owned a Nissan since the mid 90's when I had a little 94 sentra.

I am really enjoying the daily drive to Park City to go to work, so far averaging about 25mpg, going from 4500ft up to 7500 feet elevation.

Not going to do anything crazy with the car, just basic car care stuff,
at any rate, thanks for the great site and look forward to learning more about this vintage car that now has the nickname, White Lightning, LOL.

Ain't that the truth! My wife has a 97 Outback wagon and I've got a 99 Max...night and day differences. But the thing with Subies, it's hard to compare to maxima since the main function of subaru vehicles is to get your happy @ss anywhere, like the Post Ofice used to (come rain, sleet, snow, hail...) and they are very capable at doing so. Their AWD capability comes at a power price, especially in the older ones with the old 2.2 and 2.5 4cyl engines.

Oh btw - welcome!!

Welcome to the org. If you have any questions, post them in the 4th gen forum. Also when you have the time, read the "stickies". There is a lot of good info there, and if you have a problem, you may find the answer there, which would be faster than asking a question and waiting for an answer.

And if you want a FSM (Factory Service Manual) you can download one in PDF format from here:

http://boredmder.com/FSMs/Nissan/Maxima/

The file named fwd.pdf is the "cover page", the starting point. It is an index of the chapters.
The file named idx.pdf is the alphabetical index file.
