Just went from a popcharger to CAI....WOW!

First of all let me say thank you to Brian Catts for his kind service. Although we had to be a little "creative" during the install. The hole we drilled we used the little rubber circle that came off the stock intake adaptor and it fit around the hole perfectly, and the CAI tube fit in it snug and perfectly.

Ok, performance wise before the install all I had was a cone popcharger. Now the Cattman (PR) cai...

W-O-W. The lag is no more! I mean, it's hard to tell becuase the difference of a pop isn't huge, but man! It accelerates more freely and don't even get me started on the sound. People who say the CAI is like a pop except maybe a little louder, you are wrong my friends. It sounds like a p!ssed off dragon or something under hard acceleration. Immediantly put a smile on my face. My sister has the pop I had and I took her for a ride, and she was like "woah, that sounds like a race car!"
All the pop gave me was a bum, bum, bum, a pretty deep sound and a lag. My tires spin off the line a little more now with the CAI, and the car feels like it can revv more freely.

Now, midrange power. Belive me or not I felt a little more boost in that area with the CAI over the pop as well. I havent tested the highway yet, but I go to school tommorow so I will then.

In my opinion, the switch was TOTALLY worth it. The engine sounds much more aggressive and unique. For anyone who wants to make the switch, and have the $$ GO FOR IT!

black019, my friend, and you 2002 guy (), you will not be dissapointed. Not AT ALL. My sisters boyfriend has a Pontiac sunfire (4-banger) and we put a CAI in his too, and it sounds NOTHING like mine. Mine sounds soo much more aggressive and defined. But hey our engine is like twice it's size.

You haven't heard Medic's or BlkStnValyMaxima's cars. I still the BlkStnValy had the best sound though. Loud as hell.

Well we both have PR/Cattman CAI's so the engine roar would be pretty much the same now wouldn't it Deez

I wanted blue, but at X-mas time and still now everyone is sold out. The only way I could get one would be a black one from cattman. Well it looks tight. You can't see the tubing behind the battery too well (It blends right into the backround), but it still looks tight as hell. Don't worry about color...Oh thats right you really pimped out your engine bay....O well

I guess and whats up with the kissin smilie? I think some of you fellas should hang out on a dating website.

There will be a little difference between having a Y-pipe and not. BlkStnValy didn't have a Y. Medics car still sounds good though.

So, your saying that the Y-pipe actually made medic sound quieter ? Riiiiiiiiiiight. That doesn't make sense. I have a Y I am gettin ready to put on.

That's not what I said. It has to do with the tones of the 2 cars. To me, Mikes car was louder with out the Y.

The only other mods I could think of that would make a large sound diff are exhaust or S/C. He's not S/C, so exhaust?

I'll tell you it was a mistake. Big mistake. But for mechanically inclined people the pop is a quick solution.

Dan, get the CAI. Man...the sound is just incredible. When combined with our VQ and it's subdued growl, the CAI just sounds awesome. You can't hear it as much as a pop when going slow on the low end, but when you really punch it, WOW.

Clee........joO..........need...........a C-A-I !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well if your not comfortable with drilling a large hole in the side of your car a pop intake is the way to go. I knocked off .2 tenths of a second off my 0-60{consitently too} times with my stillen intake. I also like to know if I ever have to go in for warranty work I can pop my pop off in about 2 minutes.

But doesn't that give the same lag as a Pop-charger since the filter sits in the same place INSIDE the engine bay.

i had a 95 with a CAI and this intake is way louder. i wouldn't claim that unless i know. i've had three 4th gen owners tell me it's as loud as their CAI and Y-pipe setup.
