Farewell to Maxima...

but not Maxima.org
My car has been sold to my mom. I have purchased a 93 Lexus LS400, the car that I always wanted
It's Black Jade, which is extremely dark green and black leather interior. 77k miles and amazingly clean car. Everyone who looks at it, thinks it's brand new. It has 16" factory chrome wheels, motorized headrests and seatbelts and memory seats. Overall, I'm extremely happy with this car. It's amazingly quiet, possibly the quietest car in the world. The ride is incredibly smooth and build quality is unbeleivable. I've been wanting this car for almost two years now. I purchased a Maxima while looking for an LS400. My only plans for it is to get FSTB and maybe RSB along with a nice stereo system. I will keep everything else stock. I will also be listing all my Maxima mods that I have (not many) for sale very soon. I'm not leaving .org. It's been like a second home to me. Allowing me to save a lot of money in unnecessary repairs. I will still come to the boards, just not as frequently and of course I'll be in the Parts for sale forum as usual. I'm posting some pictures of what my car looks like. They're not actual pictures of my car, but that is exactly what it looks like minus the tint.

Good luck and happy motoring to all you guys.

Anton

Here's a list of everything that's for sale:

Should I trade in my 1998 GXE (16,000 miles) for a 1994 LS400? I like it a lot.

Congratulations... I always looked at your posts about going to such lengths to quiet down the Minima and felt bad, it always seemed it wasn't the car you really wanted. Now you've got it.

It depends what you're looking for in a car. If you want the smoothest, quietsest and most reliable car possibly ever built, then 93/94 LS400 fits the bill. 93 LS has a reliablity rating of 9.9 on www.edmunds.com and the maximum rating you can get is 10. That's one of the reasons I have this car.

One more thing. KBB shows $17.5 value for dealer retail. I paid $12.8 + lic/tax/smog/reg and walked out for $14k flat out the door. The car will be paid off in 3-4 months as I get paid for my Maxima. The car was purchased with brand new tires, brand new brakes and I would rate the overall condition about 12 on a scale of 10 for a 9 year old car
My insurance will be roughly $2800 per year which is like $100 more than the Max.

I've always really liked those LS400's with that EXACT colour combo! A good choice for sure.

I remember reading about the LS400 when it first came out and how much the car editors gushed about how quiet and refined it was. Apparently it's like buying a slightly softer V8 Mercedes.

Cool Deal. How about the SC400, any good? Same engine, more sport, 0-60 in about 6.5?

Good choice....I remember when i was like 10 the LS400 was my favorite car.....I was obsessed, I'd make my mom take me to the Lexus dealer so I could look at them....lol....the only drawback is in performance, with a 0-60 time of around 8.7 seconds...but hey who cares it's a luxury car.....congrats!

Nice!

Anton! It's your old sound deadening buddy. HAHA.

Thanks for all of the help with everything. Hopefully, I can get a lot of interior parts off of you, as mine are very worn out.

Enjoy your new car! I've been in my friends (his parents' actually) and it's soo great!

LS is a very successful car in every way. It started its style just right. Someone said it was too conservative, but I'd say it was conservatively beautiful. Over the years it changed a little but overall style is the same to me. My taste is that luxury car should be a little conservative and serious. Not like Nissan and some other brands that at each redesign the designers have a real headache what to change what to keep, and often come out with love/hate things...
I have a feeling some day I will also own one ...
Congratulations.

Niiiice. That's the best looking LS400 in my book. You've got a GREAT car. That sucker idles so smoothly, you have to pop the hood to know that the damn engine is on!

Logical next move for a guy who had the ultime sound deadened Maxima

Just recalled that when before I decided on my 2000 RX300, I talked with my company colleague who used to have LS400 but later he sold it back to the dealer and then got a new Porche (spelling?). I asked what's wrong with LS400. He said absolutely nothing wrong but it's so smooth and so good that it's not his personality any more.
