stock alarm huh? Ok here's one way. You can hook up the positive to a constant hot. connect the negative to the ignition wire of your car.How it works: When your car is turned on, the scanner will turn off. Take the keys out, and scanner turns on.

Unless there's a negative when armed wire on the stock alarm, that's the way I would do it. I did that to my sister's truck but just used a LED.

Have fun

Wouldn't this eventually run down the battery? I know LED's don't take much from the battery, but if it is going constantly when the car is off, this would be something I would worry about.

dude that little scanner isn't going to drain the battery. Maybe if you're running of a 9 volt duracell battery. A scanner is like one of those alarm LEDs accept there's about 7 of them instead

Unless he drives the car out of town once a week or so to charge the battery, it will eventually go dead earlier than normal. And is the scanner thing actually LED? That would make a big difference also.

Sorry about getting off topic, it was just something that was borhering me. . . If I were you I would try and figure out a way to hook it up to the security light on the inside of the car. Since this is only blinking when the security system is armed, it would probably be the best way to do it. Although since it is on the inside, you would have to go through the fire wall and such, and it might be more trouble than it is worth. You would also have to design some sort of switch for it.
