red having a debate with a friend he thinks that red 3rd and 4th gen are rare which to my knowledge its true, the real debate is the fact that he thinks that the red 4th gens are se-r's. i have my doubts my guess is that red was a special order color (for geographical reason's) and the se-r was designated for the sentra's so i come to you guys to help clarify this delema

 

Crimson Blaze was available on the 99 ONLY. Same as the Lakeshore Blue (mine). Both colors are rare. The "SE-L" is a limited badged SE maxima, only avilable on the 99. This is the only type of 4th gen offered in RED. I don't know about 3rd gens

 

It is in the late part of 99' that there's a SE-L SE Limited, I seen a few Red ones, and definitely quite few blue and grey ones. I wanted get one, but I am glad I got my 2001 instead. SE-R only found on the late part of the 2006 Nissan Altima, I guess Maxima got the short end of the stick offering the SE-R which would been cool with a real 6spd with a much higher HP output.
