Supertone Horn install question

I just bought a set of Bosch supertone horns...after checking the instructions it sez that a relay has to be used...is this really necessary? i just want to install them in place of the stock horns. Or even in place of the horn for the factory alarm system

Thanks

A relay doesn't have to be used unless there is excessive drain on the electrical system. Connect the horns as normal, and if they don't work, connect a relay.

Got them abroad

Actually right now I'm in the Phillipines on vacation..the local Bosch shop had them on sale (the Bosch Supertones came out around $US40) so I picked up a set. The Hella Supertone sells for around $US60 here. The Bosch model is supposed to have a deeper tone set at 300Hz and 375HZ, and is louder. The Hella is set at 300Hz and 500Hz. the Bosch ones are also much larger in diameter for some reason. There was another set of Bosch Supertones even bigger than the ones I got..they come in a polished steel case and is supppoeded to be REALLY LOUD but that model costs around $US80, and might be too big for the car..

Thanks NightRider..I'll give it a shot...the only thing that worries me is the saleman said that since the Supertones require more wattage they may cause the horn swich in the steering wheel to stick and jam..
