2003 maxima racing, opinions wanted

hey guys i want to know if i race my 03 maxima 6 speed with 80k miles with intake headers exhaust front strut bar samco hoses stainless steel brake company big brake kit stage 2 clutch and coilovers and 19 inch light weight rims (tons lighter then stock) how well would i do agaisnt cars such as cars like mustang gt V8, Chevy Camaro V8, 350z, g35, maybe aroudn 2003+ BMWS, audi a4s , a5s,

i know the maximas are pretty quick cause i did use to race my 00 maxima with just a full exhaust and i beat mustangs b4 and a camaro but now i want to race stronger cars.

also i know the maxima is just a family sedan or what we like to say a 4 door sports car and the reason why i got another maxima is cause i wanted a sporty ride but be able to lugg a car full of people and the maxima had it all.

i also have a kinitex intake manifold that i will be installing soon and b4 that i will order a spacer kit from nwp and possibly get the torque link

after those three mods are installed i willl probably be done with modding and the last thing i would do possibly is a sway bar i do not want to turbo/supercharge/nos

how do you think i will do agaisnt these muscle cars, 350z, g35 maybe a 1999 bmw m3 i want to go agaisnt the big dogs please dont tell me i can beat civic si, or a celica gts idc about the lil fries even tho modded ones would take a dump on a max.

p.s i know the maxs can keep up with these cars no problem but i mean like i want to be in front lol if you guys think the maxima will always be a tad slower unless i tune or use force induction i will probably enjoy my maxima for a year or so and just lose the comfort and get a rwd sports car

I say A4, kill em, BMW 330 AND below same thing, 335i might have a chance, those are twin turbo, 5 series same thing, 545 and 550 have about 369hp same on Torque, but the rest same power or a couple more than a stock 5.5....350z can be handled but those HR ones do have that power....dont know what year Mustang and Camato you talking cause some have big power and some dont, but all can be handled checked on youtube.....

Keep it on the Track or closed Course.

Let's see, if straight line and no turns and all these cars are "stock"

A4 = Win
A5 = Even
350Z/G35 = Even
BMW 335i = Lose
Newer Mustang GT V8 = Lose
Newer Camaro V8 = Lose

Most of these cars are RWD or AWD, slight advantage on their side. You will be struggling with torque steer and trying to keep the car from hitting the fences.

Best bet go to the track and get a 1/4 time slip.

what u think of the 03-08 range for the mustang and camaro i remember ford having very low horsepower for there v8s for a long time which was very comparable to japanese v6.

The older mustang v8 were slugs with a 260hp v8 stock. The older camaro's had a 310hp v8. You can prolly kill the mustang and stay even w/ the camaro.

Even so those cars were really heavy slugs.

99-04 GT will be a toss up depending on mods, 05+ will on most occasions outrun the Maxima, a healthy running LS1 will outrun the Maxima even with full bolt ons, G/Z will be neck and neck depending on how modded they are, M3 will best the Maxima.

That's why I said depending on how modded it is

And fyi, a new edge GT with just full exhaust 4.10's and a tune will go low 13's so their not as "slow" as you guys seem to make them out to be.

And what kind of times are you expecting out of your car? Because while there are a few out there that run well into the 13's with bolt ons, on average most 5.5 Maxima's with your setup on your car would be in the low 14's / high 13's which is very easily attainable for a 99-04 GT.

Notice I said average, not all so don't everybody start flaming away lol.

just get out there and dont be afraid to lose. you cant calculate a race on a messageboard. if you wanna start racing, get your max out there and start beatin on people. thats the only way to know if youll wanna keep it or move on to RWD like you said.

just a lil rant but man ford doesnt know how to engineer a car cause how does a 04 mustang with 2 more cylinders have only 260 hp and our 3.5s have 255! and also there bigger v6 3.8 with 190 man that sucks my moms honda oddysey has way more than that lol even tho in the next generation that upped there game a lil with 300 horses but the 350zs v6 hr engines put out 305 cmon smh smh makes me love my nissan even more lol and yea even tho my 03 max might lose to a 05 it will still eat a 210 horsepower 4.0 mustang -__- im not trying to hate on mustangs or anything but cmon!

only 260hp but 300ft lbs + of torque. plus with the 4.6 you have a 1.1L diff so obviously mod for mod the mustang will out power the maxima shortly.

also the 3.5 maxima was introduced in 2002 and the 4.6 was already around since '96 starting at 215hp receiving improvements here and there. even though the vq30de came out in '95 the vq35de received so many changes (not just size) i consider it a "new" engine.

the 3.8 was a joke and i dunno why they bothered making it .2L bigger for 20hp, its not like it mattered anyway. it made 150hp before that 190, apparently a variable intake helped that. LOL at "it'll still eat a 210hp mustang" ... so will many things not much to be proud of

remember that the 302 (old 5.slow, actually 4.9 ) was used for like 25 years and it was a pushrod design, so transferring to ohc design was new to ford and over the years they've come a long way (new dohc 5.0 411hp on, the dohc v6 is about 300), not to mention even with dohc it still sounds like an american pushrod v8 . plus its tuned from the factory to run on any grade gas and. you only lose about 10hp with 87

every manufacturer, but especially the american manufacturers, overrate the HP numbers. Dsport does a new car dyno test and almost everyone was 30hp under what was advertised. In the fine print it is probably flywheel HP

yea i understand all that i just still think its wack that the v8 only has 260 still cause like one should think a v6 mustang should eat a maxima which is a family sedan but it cant plus i dont see it fair comparing v8 to v6 but i just had to make the comparison cause it was so close! lol

i would do a tune but cams is alot of labor so i dont think i would do that lol b4 i get cams i would probably switch to a 350z, g35, s2000, sti or a evo b4 that :P i just feel like my maxima can beat a 350 and a g35 and def the s2000 but the s2000 is more of a car thats fun to drive

You can easily beat a 350z and g35! If i can beat them (on freeway) then so can you. I get killed by your car. Unless you are racing fully bolted 6speed z or g. Then yeah they win.

lmao yea if i did get one itll become fully bolted the mods for that car can get pricey tho it seems cause when i was thinking of purchashing one it was like 2g for a exhaust lol the s2000 i dont mind it being slow cause it probably drives like a dream and it can get 30 mpg lol

It's always been flywheel hp for north America... How can they lie about numbers if they gotta stick to sae standards? The revised sae rules came if the late 2000's and I believe I remember Toyota's v6 came out to be a big liar. They claimed 225 by the old standards and then 190 by New standards

Sorry to revive a thread but just adding in I recently raced my buddy who has a 08 gt manual, he pulled me by about 1.5 cars mainly and random points 2-2.5 car lenghts but when we got to 100 the gap started to close and fast then he let off around 105...now with all that being said here is the sad part I have a 180 on original motor, transmission (automaitc) and PRE cats, all I have done is a short ram and a custom 3" cat back. The only real time he started to pull away from me was when my slushbox had to change gears and he was already in gear. So with all the stuff you say you have done to your max you should sprint away from an 08 gt he also had a k&n intake.

Not entirely true. When the final generation of the LS-1 WS-6 Trans Ams (with the LS-6 internals) came out in '03, they were rated for 350WHP. Guys were running dynos, and actually pushing closer to 365-370WHP. So the car was under-rated.

One thing the last-gen ('99-'04) Mustangs had going for them was the weight. The GT was relatively light, so even though it lacked in the horsepower department, there still wasn't a whole lot of car that the motor had to move.

Yep... If u had headers you'd keep up and maybe even.beat him. With headers and a manual = goodbye! They should had that 300hp v8 in the 99-04 and a 350hp for the 05. Wtf is 260hp And 300lbft out of a 4.6L V8 -_-

rsx-s and Wrx came in 02 and srt4 in 03, the v6 manual Camry, 3.5 maxima manual, 3.2 TL-s. All of these cars where able to keep up or beat the gt. A car that's supposed to be quicker than 4 door family cars and factory turbocharged fun econoboxes.

however, the new mustang is sick. Finally a proper engine for the pony!
