I think it is a Nissan Strategy. Sell the car at a low price. Offer so many "levels" of the car with basic, touring, track etc.. Then bring Nismo into the Mix and make even more money from massive mod (options) business instead of making the to it's full capabilies in stock form. Just a thought....

Did they dyno it? Do they know how much power it is putting out or do they just think it needs more than the claimed 280+ HP? Because I think 280+ high-tech horses in a sub-$30K car is pretty damn good.

The version the car magazines have tested has only 250 hp. Nissan engineers are still tweaking it. That's why SCC thought it was slow.

If Nissan is saying "280+ hp" in their press releases now, I think we can safely assume they can bump the power up to at least 280 hp by release.

yeah.. the version they tested has only 250hp... and they did mention something about 290 hp..... I agree with Phatguy that I believe that Nissan is planning on buring different version and also NISMO on to the market.... personally I would like to see a twin turbo version... heck.. even a single turbo version will be enough to make me buy the car..... personally I like the styling of the 350Z.. but 280 HP is not enough for me...

I beileve what they said was 250 at the wheels and 290 at the crank which is what the non turbo is suposed to be at.
