New here...
Ok guys and gals, I'm looking for some information. Yes, this is my first post and no I'm not trolling. I am interested in a new Nissan Maxima and am looking for some input from true Maxima owners/lovers. I have a friend that has had the same Maxima for the past 12+ years and just recently traded it on a new Murano. In the time that she had the Maxima, she did not have any real issues with it.
I currently have a 2007 Dodge Charger with the Road and Track Performance Package (not the base R/T that you commonly see around). I ordered her and my name is on the wondow sticker. And yes, I am "that guy" that has every piece of documentation that goes along with her since I ordered her. Even every receipt for every oil and filter change. I got hit in her several months ago. The repairs were done fine. I got 2 new OEM doors and because I meticulously took care of her, the bright red paint matched with no problem and very little blending. Noone can tell she was ever wrecked. The only thing is, I CAN. But this is only because I am "that guy" when it comes to my vehicles. I have not had any issues with her since I picked her up and now have over 100K miles and still going. I still love my Charger, but it is still in the back of my mind that she has been wrecked.
I went and looked at a 2012 Nissan Maxima about a month after I got my car out of the shop. I technically bought it as I initialled the quote on the price, incentives, etc, and signed the free oil changes certificate. When they came back, they reneged on the deal and started backpeddling as to why they could not honor their word. Long story short, I have no plans of going back to this Nissan dealer any time in the near future.
I am considering purchasing a new 2013 Nissan Maxima with the Sport Package. What I am asking from you is.... Please be honest in your experience iwith your Maxima(s) and let me know the good, the bad, and the ugly.
Thanks in advance.

It's a nice mid-level sedan, looks good, makes good power, and probably has just enough creature comforts in it to make it worth it looking at rather then a acura, or infiniti (unless you simply must have all the extra little lights, and sensors, little electronic goodies). The only question you would ask yourself is if you would rather have a G35, or G37, a lexus, or an Acura, say maybe a Acura TSX 4 cyl, then a Maxima 6 cyl rather the Maxima simply at the prestige of owning a higher class car if you can afford one. With a KBB starting price for a brand new one at $30,000 you'd have to decide yourself if its the best value for you with option like Cadillac ATS, Ford Mustang, chevy Camaro, TSX, Audi TT in the same price range.
And your above point on the $30+ price is why I'm asking. I thought about the Camaro, but like the 4 door my Charger has. I don't care about prestige and what people think just because I'm driving an Acura, Infiniti, Lexus, etc. I've thought about the CTS and have a couple of friends pushing me that direction, but that's mainly because they don't have one and won't be purchasing one any time soon. I've always liked the Maximas and am trying not to be as **** retentive as I have been with my Charger. Most people don't believe me when I tell them that she's almost 6 years old and has over 100K miles on her as she still looks new inside and out. And after my dealing at the Nissan dealership, I was somewhat disuaded from considering the Maxima and pointed back at a new Charger. In February Dodge is re-releasing the Plum Crazy Pearl color and it will most likely be another limited run. Had I waited when I ordered my Charger before, the 300 Plum Crazy SRTs they made would have been available and I would have had a very rare car. But I know if I go that route again, I will be just as OCD as I have been. Not saying I wouldn't be somewhat the same way with a Maxima. I keep my cars up better than most on the roads. I work in insurance and there are only about 3% of daily driven vehicles that fall into that "Excellent" category and my Charger was one of them... until she got hit. Just cannot figure which way I want to go.
Any known issues with the current generation Maximas?

They are for the most very reliable, like with any other big name japanese car company, honda, nissan, and toyota, and the name brands acura, infiniti, and lexus are all very reliable. I've always been a import guy, but am considering my next car either a nice V6 Camaro, or a CTS cadillac or something like that, but if you are considering a good car in the import market I would definitley suggest getting a Maxima, the only thing I would consider would be the Accord V6 coupe over the Maxima in the mid range import market but thats only because its the coupe and would not get the sedan. As for a sedan, I would get the Maxima hands down, maybe a strut bar, rear sway bar, and some nice tires, premium sound and you're set!

290 hp, 261 torque, and you can get one with Sport package, sunroof, premium sound, electronically controlled everything, heated seats, navigation the works for under 30k from the dealer if you're lucky, much like the one pictured above.
havent heard of any but i love my hondas reliability over nissan all day my family owns 4 nissans right now 5.5gen maxima 80k miles 2006 sentra spec-v 40k miles 2006 nissan titan 4dr v8 and a altima se-r and 2 hondas oddysey and civic and my tsx they are good cars but i can tell they not as reliable as hondas but still better than domestics.
Well, I've had my Charger since she was new and the only real issue I've had was a small transmission leak. It has the Mercedes transmission and they knew about the potential leak when she was being built. They used a rubber washer instead of a nylon one and it was cheaper for them to cover it under warranty than fix the issue at the factory. 106K miles on her now and still going strong.
Any fit and finish issues with anyone's Maxima?
