From time to time, at my dealership, we have customers who are unable and unwilling to pay for a Nissan Reman, or new tranny.
We use a company close by, called LKQ in Savannah that are very good, on most all Trannies they offer they have a 3yr/unlimited warranty.
Give them a try, can't hurt.

For a tranny the best solution is almost always to buy one from a scrapper and have it rebuilt. The cost of the tranny and having it rebuilt is almost always going to be cheaper than buying a new one, plus it allows you the opportunity to find the good tran over the normal one (LSD). Having it rebuilt is not mandatory, if you can verify that it is low mileage and in good condition then you could just install it or have it installed, but in most cases they come from wrecked cars and therefore it generally is better to have it rebuilt so that you don't install it then have to have it removed to be rebuilt when you discover that it needs to be.
These guys have already given you some leads for buying one of those, so I will just give you the other companies I use for non-used parts in case you are ever looking.
OEM suppliers:
Nissan Parts Zone
Tri-Cities Nissan
Aftermarket suppliers:
Rock Auto
FCP Import They are on the board here so if you want parts from them, I would private message their rep here and see about discount
Those are the main four I use, but occasionally go on ebay also. Really it comes down to each individual situation and who has the best price on the part.

if youre resourceful, you can scope out your own at a junkyard, but itll take lots of searching. LKQ companys do this searching for you, but charge you for it. you still end up saving in the long run though.

Yeah, I certainly know a place, as few weeks ago; a friend bought a used transmission for his Maxima 1993 from autopartsfair site and that too at a very reasonable price. He got his spares in a decent condition with a 1 year warranty and lowest price assurance. So just check out the same.

I can actually help you out in this regard because, I too own 04 maxima and coincidently couple of months back I have replaced the transmission of the same. That time my elder brother suggested me http://www.automotix.net/transmissions/ , so I purchased a used transmissions from there and till now I have not faced any problem with the replaced transmissions.
