Ran a VR-4 tonight

ok....so as most of you know I lost to Chi99Limited's AUTO max yesterday....this HAS to be becuase of my rubber floor mat being under my gas pedal.

I ran a 320hp (one with the projector headlamps) 3000GT VR-4 tonight from a 30 roll....and he only pulled a half car to 90....which leads me to the conclusion that it HAD to be my floor mat...becuase I HIGHLY doubt that Adam (Chi99Limited) would beat a VR-4 from a roll....

Maybe it was the non pop up headlights he was talking about? The later year VR4 had non pop up headlights, which looked very nice, it could be mistaken for projector headlights. The older model VR4 had pop up headlights, while the newer one had flush mounted headlights.

VR4 320 hp awd would slay most maxes. It was probably the 220hp NA version

that's exactly what I was talking about...I was clarifying that fact to show that it was the 320hp one vs. the older 300hp one....

Did you spray? If not there is no way you would be able to keep up with a VR-4 IMO.

NO....my bottle is empty and out of the car for the winter....

he was a bad shifter...I would gain a couple feet when he shifted...that's why I stayed so close...but the fact remains that I hung with him....

they are VERY heavy cars and have AWD which hurts their on roll acceleration.....

Very true, it depends on the driver. I know this first hand because my close friend has a '93 VR4. I know the car should be faster than it is, but due to inexperience in shifting(his first manual), it's not as fast as it could be. Another friend of mine who is a very good driver did much better and the VR4 felt fast as heck. He said the VR4 isn't an easy car to drive. It takes skill to get the most out of it. He also said the stock clutch was very stiff, almost like doing leg presses. I don't know if that's true or not.

Bri: I believe you too, it's possible for sure after seeing what a poor driver(my close friend)and a very skilled driver(my other friend)could do with the same car.

let's not judge a car by it's wheels and sure as hell not by it's badges!!! how many maxima's on this board have GT-R badges?????

but i believe you ran a VR-4 because if he can't shift and you can, he doesnt stand a chance.. nice kill.

He said projector headlights to indicate the year, not the trim. VR4s run high 13s stock typically, and that's because of their AWD launches. From a roll (stock) they aren't gods like Supras are. They are about 400 lbs heavier than supras, and AWD saps about 10% more power than a typical FWD or RWD layout does. Good race brian.

sure it could be a VR4, but you never know if he was really racing. that's the thing with most roadkill stories today, it's only a race when both parties are aware they are racing.

i see your 14.0 in sig, i assumer that's with NOS, now if bottle is out, you are most likely 15.0, i am sorry but that's not enuff to hang with a VR4 if he was going all out.

not many people drive 90 in a 40 if they aren't racing

yes...the 14.0 is with a 50 shot...spinning ALOT in first gear...and some in second....plus my NOS wasn't working great...my fuel pump is a little weak...try 14.5 or lower N/A with my mods and driving ability....

Dam Brian your racing all over the place. Your right about the floor mat. Last winter I had the rubber mats in and I noticed some slight limitations via a datalogger.

I recently put the smack down on an LS1 6 speed ss camaro from a light and then again from a roll(gave him the bust). When is was over his passenger rolled down the window and gave me my props. They were quite surprised. LOL. Oh I didn't spray him...didn't wanna make him think he was running on 7.
