Altima tested on Motorweek & Car/Driver

The new Altima 3.5 SE 5spd was test today on both programs. What I found interesting is that Car & Driver tested the 0-60 in 7.3 seconds, while Motorweek's results were 5.9 with a 14.4 1/4 mile.

MotorWeek used a fancy Gtech. 5.9 is flawed.

I believe a mid 6 to upper 6 is normal.

Motor Trend, Road and Track, and Edmunds all got 6.3 seconds 0-60 for the Altima. Are they all "flawed"?

There hasn't been a single magazine that has gotten above 6.3 seconds for the Altima. I don't know where your "mid 6 to upper 6" number came from, but it's wrong.

6.3 sounds right....5.9 is flawed. Like I said. Mid is 6.3

The 7.3s was for an automatic 3.5SE I believe. It was in the family car camparison right? Motorweek tested a 5-spd 3.5SE..and yes, Motorweek does get very optimistic times.

The 1995 Maxima was tested 0-60 in 7.3-7.6

The fact that my 7 year old car is as fast as the new more powerful altima tells me something....

I ran a 6.3 0-60 the other day on my "flawed" G-tech. I think a new Altima is faster than I am.

Gtech is not a accurate tool to measuring actual performance of the car. It is good for only seeing the difference after adding mods.

Well I beat a 3.2 CL type S to 60 on the track and they run about 6.4 to sixty so you do the math

I this also means that I am faster from 0-60. I'm somewhere around 7.0 to 7.2. I think I'm 7.1 or 7 flat though.

Actually this was on TV and they were both 5spd. I made it a point to check out the interior shot.

If you were referring to the Car and Driver, a recent issue has a 3.5SE Altima (AUTOMATIC) doing 0-60 in 7.3s. I don't think a 5-spd Altima could pull such a slow time. Perhaps it was also on TV, but that must have also been an automatic.

And regarding people here claiming their AUTOMATIC 4th gens doing 0-60 in 7.3 seconds or less STOCK, you must have VERY fast 4th gens out of the factory. Do your research, read the mags, and you will find that 0-60 in 7.6s was the fastest ever recorded for a 4th gen auto. And that with only one mag. The others recorded 0-60 in 7.9-8.3s, which I believe to be more accurate for automatic 4th gens. As for 5-spd 4th gens, there was one test 0-60 in 6.6s I believe, but later tests pulled 7.1s.

The Car and Driver one showed a 5-speed Altima on TV, but the numbers they posted were from an auto. If you look at them, all the numbers (0-60, braking, etc.) were the same as from the family car comparison that was printed last month. The Altima in that comparison was an auto. They just got lazy and didn't run the numbers on the 5-speed Altima they had on the show.

See my sig. 0-60 in 6.7 WITH G-TECH. 1/4 mile in 15.27, on a real track, I have the timeslip. There is no way I ran 0-60 in 7.6 and still pulled a 15.2 quarter...I was running high sixes 0-60 all night that night...

I'm not claiming my 4th Gen STOCK auto is not pulling 7 or 7.1 from 0-60. If my fastest track time was 15.62 (which I do have time slips), I am running very low 7's. There no way my car can run 15.62 in the 1/4 and do 0-60 at 7.6 or higher. Its impossible.

mzmtg: I didn't read your post before I posted my reply but I'm going to leave it anyway. There's no way we can run 7.6 from 0-60 and run the times we have in the 1/4(mine is higher of course but still impossible).
