Really?

I've been looking around for a VQ30 since mine went out the door. I've been calling and looking at different junkyards, and the prices are ridiculous.

I remember a relative going out two or three years ago with $500 or $600 and putting a working car together from completely from junkyard parts.

Everyone wants at least $600 for a VQ30. It blows my mind. I can get a VQ30 with a 6-month warranty from a legit regional southwest company (providing parts mainly to reputable repair shops) for $600.

Nobody junkyard chumps want $600+ with their 2-week or 1-month warranty and scores of reviews on their failure to deliver even on that short promise. I don't ****ing get it.

The best deal I saw was a 119K for $400, and the next day when I had the money, it was gone. Still, it's ridiculous -- from a junkyard, with no guarantees, $250-$300 is fair. Perhaps experienced auto enthusiasts go about this some other way?

My local yard is $190 complete. And something less than $100 for just the engine.

1. Buy a crashed Max with rear end or side damage
2. Take the motor
3. Part out the car
4. Profit
