stuck under 2000rpm....another prob! help?
hummmm
on my way to the Meet today all of a sudden my car cut out...the rpm's would go over 2000. felt like it was hitting the rev limiter. Im sure its not a mechanical prob cause later it worked again. Somehow the ECU is cutting out around 2000rpm. Possible cam or crank sensors would be my guess. I pulled the codes at home and its the same O2 sensor and EGR codes ive had forever. whats going on? i swear the car is cursed....this sucks.

I would say the MAF needs to be looked at. In my maxima and se-r if I was to unplug the MAF the engine wouldn't rev over 2000rpm, nor would it idle. Try unplugging the maf to see if the same conditions happen if so then you've found part of the problem.
i can't beleive you can run into so many problems for a simple/impossibly accomplishable turbo kit. I have been reading up on your maxima's history for the past couple of years and i am still astonished that its not 100% yet.

).We'll see an influx of "Blown tranny", "Slipping clutch", and "Blown motor" threads because of all the greedy boost ******.

You guys know his stats yet?

Hmmm I remember when I blew some of my pressure side hoses off. It ran similar to what you describe. Check and reclamp all your hoses. Boost leaks are a major pain. Then again, swap mafs and see if that cures it.

Hey Matthel,
Sounds like the limp mode alright, but if I remember, limp mode prevents the engine from revving over 3000RPM, not 2000. I don't have it with me now, but check the FSM to see what would cause the ECU to go into limp mode. Several off the top of my head include excessive wheel spin (for automatics), overheating, and multiple engine misfires (deterioration of exhaust quality).
BTW, replaced my LH O2 sensor this past weekend. Mileage back up again! Before, I got 14MPG on the highway with the bad O2 sensor.

Boy, that surely sucks... Perhaps you should look into an Infiniti qx4. I heard that solves a lot of problems as far as maximas not working... hmmm....

ill look into it. Jeff metioned that he remembered one of the codes we reset while on the side of the road. it was the crank position sensor. Since Lynns car is here im gonna borrow his and see wassup.
Matthel, same thing happened to me. I would have said something at the meet, but the correlation didnt click in my head until now. Of course I dont have a turbo, but I when i was messing with my g-force ecu it happened. I would bet 100 bucks that your TPS(throttle position sensor) is busted. I paid like 100 and something for mine from the dealer and after I got it installed, the car worked perfectly. Mine would not go over 2000 either, so i bet you have the same problem. You could run the ECU trouble codes and see if thats really the problem I think.

hummmmm
so turns out the bolt holding the crank sensor actually broke. so we're thinkin yea we found the prob, extract the old bolt and check the crank sensor, its ok, so we put it back in and still same prob....crap.
