Do cali-spec 2000 Maxima 5-speed puts down less power than fed-spec?
Do cali-spec 2000 Maxima 5-speed puts down less power than fed-spec?
I have 2000 Maxima 5-speed cali-spec and it doesn't seem like I can get high 14s or somewhere near those times for 1/4 run that some people on this board were getting for stock 2000 5-speed Maxima. My car just seems slow.
Yesterday, I ran with Integra GS-R, it was the newer body type, and that car is pretty fast.
He didn't beat me, but I couldn't pass him either.
I checked the specs on that car. And it got NO torque. That is unbelivable that Honda gets those cars to go that fast with almost no torque. And hp on GS-R is only like 170hp.

He may have a fwe less HP but also alot less weight. They weigh in at around 2800 Pounds. Not sure what the 5th gens are at but they are heavier then 4th's and we only have about 3200 pounds. Thats why you were even most likely. He had less weight to push down the road.

I looked at this after I found out I had a cali spec. what I found is peak HP is the same for both BUT the bands were not in the same for both. At one point the cali spec has 10 less ftlbs of torque!! (I need a udp!) Not sure how much this will affect, plus are your wheels stock? The stock 17's are heavy.
From what I have seen there is about 1-3hp and 2-4ftlbs difference at most... Usually there is no difference that can be seen. The 99-2001 CA/NLEV exhaust (Manifold to last flange before the muffler) is exactly the same from what I have seen.
And as usual this is IMHO

one main difference is the intake manifold in the cali spec vs fed spec model. The Cali spec model has some swirl control valve that is part of the intake manifold. While this may not be a big thing, it may hinder the intake manifold slightly.
