Z28...Trans Ams....etc

The latest T/A's and Z-28's start with 300 hp stock. Add in a 6 speed and you can do the math. If it is a Camaro SS or a WS6 T/A, you are looking at I believe 330hp. They weigh more, but you can't ignore a difference of over 110 hp. I would just smile at them and tell them to have a nice day.

If you want to beat one, make sure the driver is asleep - even a stock one.

don't know which year max you have but consider the LT1 and LS1 f-bodies (93+) a near impossibility if you have bolt-ons (not power adders) and the f-car is a healthy well-driven example. Maybe if you have lots of bolt-ons, you might be able to take on a 2.73 gear automatic convertible LT1 (93-97) f-car, but after 120mph it also will begin to pull ahead. and as for current LS1s, forget it 6-spd '01 to '02s are the fastest and can run 13.2s to 13.0s easily at 106 to 109.5 mph showroom stock.
a much more appropriate and fun race would be against the supercharged GM FWD machines. my dad's reliable '96 bonneville se with the rare supercharged engine option (only avail. for base bonnes from '95 to '97 and in series II trim in '96-'97) ran a decent 14.525sec. at 94.06 mph in 100% stock trim/stock tires/full tank 93 octane as featured in High Performance Pontiac 10/1997. and that performance is definately within the realm of beating with your max plus bolt-ons or an '02 Max stock.

doubt it
like motectransam said, go for the convertible LT1. you won't beat a LS1. I have beat several LT1 convertibles. Some of the faster ones you can hang with for a few seconds if you are in the right powerband, like for me on a 30mph or 60 mph punch, but you will still get beaten in the long run.

You must have gotten a ringer from the factory, because my dad has owned 3 supercharged bonneville's (95, 96, 00)and he has never beaten me in a race. He can hang off the line because of the torque, but then I would just start pulling away every time.

BriGuyMax and I took out an auto 2.73 Z28 on the way to the Detroit auto show. Stock, those cars are very restricted. They really open up with just basic mods, but a stock one can be taken out by a bolt on 5 speed max. We did it. If its an LS1, keep dreaming.

Um...he's no longer an auto. He did a 5spd swap, that's why he said he could 14s.
