Go to college, get a real job, and buy a used Maxima. You can buy all the mods you want.
I'm still amazed at all the people in here who buy new cars, blow everything on their cars, and go partying yet they still live with their parents. I like nice cars too, but damn, if I was still living with my parents at age 21+, I think I'd feel like I wasn't making much of my life. There's a lot more to life than cars and drinking. Just my opinion.

for me, i live at home, work part time, go to school part time, and slack full-time. maybe thats why i have almost no mods?
but mostly I drive around the Ginza strip in my 89 RX-7 high-beaming peeps, earning money the fast way.
oh yeah, i have a credit card too, but I pay off each mod before I buy the next...

Its easy
Buy an 88 accord race a car for 100 bucks then upgrade win another race and then buy a newer car and race that for money, or buy a 92 se 5spd for $300 and sell your 91 gxe for $2500 then have a nice ride, and sell crack on the side
Sometimes mods come all at one time some times they are far apart, My theory is if its a good deal now and you cant pay for it your gonna have to pay twice as much later so find a way= Greddy cat back, stillen kit, double din 5" lcd. and touring wing

But seriously, I have a 14 yr career for now as a Marine and work a second job (at a auto parts store, hello discount) for play money and seem to spend all of it on toys...hope to do some contracting for computer work soon and that will allow for some good cash flow as well.

I live pretty cheaply, go to an in-state public school, and get a lot of financial aid. Living expenses first, then I can play around with what's left. This explains why my only mods are FSTB, RSB, clears, and 97-99 SE wheels. I love my car, but I haven't worked since high school and I don't see myself starting again until I leave college.

you know how some people take a chunk out of their earnings and put it into savings - then after a while they don't miss the money... I kinda do that, but the chunk of money goes into my maxima instead.

Just save up. Work like three weeks without buying your max anything just spending what you haev to. Then if your working you have a few hundred to play with so get yourself 1 thing. Then do this again for three to 4 weeks. Eventually you actually start having a surplus of money.
Very easy.

As many of you know, I've got a whole lot invested in my car. For me, a lot of it's sponsored, but keep in mind that to keep my sponsors happy, I'm going to be doing something like 20-30 shows this year. Car will be travelling all over, from Florida to Texas, to the northeast, and I may take it to California. And when I'm not doing shows, I'm working like 12-14 hours a day. I run my own business, so I have to work the hours. And when I'm not working on the business, I have to work on my car. The security guards at my apartment are always rolling by because I'll be in the garage at like 4am working on something. It's not easy, but I'm happy with what I do. Keep in mind this isn't for everyone. If you have a regular job, then obviously putting this much time into the car isn't feasible. But when your car is part of your advertising budget for your business, it's easier to justify. But ask around for the people with a ton invested in their cars, like over $20K and you'll find very few that aren't in the industry in some way. Without sponsors or deep discounts on parts, very few people make enough money to invest more into the car than the original purchase price.

Each year, I spend about 6% of what I make on my car, mods wise. The rest goes into my house, IRAs, 401Ks, various stocks, and living expenses. I could be driving a MUCH more expensive ride, but what would be the point? I wouldn't be able to afford any mods and make it my own. That's almost 80% of the fun with driving any kind of car. What you put into it is what's fun, IMO. I'm not suggesting that everyone live as frugal as myself, but don't you guys want to retire young? BTW, I don't make a lot of money. Our combined income is only about $70K a year living in one of the nicer suburbs in the Kansas City metro area. 70K is just under the median household income in KC.
