It was originally slated for 2003, but now it looks like the end of 2003 or the 2004 model. It will be the Nissan version of the Q-45 (RWD V-8).

Yes...thats what I meant 2003 for the 2004 models...not the 2003 models that will be out in several months...

I second that, new Maxima (made in Smyrna, TN) will be introduced as a 2004 model so it will be available in 2003.

The '03 Maxima will have a 400 HP V10, but will still be FWD based on the Sentra platform. Everything will be standard except for non-chipping paint, which will be a $10k option. Also, the window roll-down on the key fob that was in the Gen4, but gone in the 00-01 Gen5, but back again on the 02, will be gone once again on the 03.

Uhh..seriously though. The new Max is according to the more reliable sources supposed to be released as a 2004 model and is also supposed to be based on a stretched Altima platform. So it looks like the 03 Maxima will still be the same, although I've also heard that the model year might be cut short and the 2004 model released early, but who knows
