best engine sound IMO is a Ferrari F50 flying through a tunnel

In terms of ordinary cars you will see on the street (and this does not include Ferraris), I would say a Porsche Boxster sounds pretty good. It has the classic high strung yet torquey motor sound. I love pulling up to one next to the stoplight even though I know I will lose the race, I get to listen to one sweet revband.

F1 engines 3liter's,10 cylinders,18,000rpm and 700hp+ of pure fury.

On a side note no manufacturer list's the spec's of any of their engine's.In other word's all that is known is that they are 3liter v-10's.The other information is just "assumed".

I have always thought the VG (3rd gen stock) engine sounds so good, it sounds "brawny"....It also has a very distinct sound, I always can hear one and know it's a Maxima before I see it. I even think it sounds better than the VQ, not when revving, but when simply working. When revving, the VQ is about as good as it can get however.

You think they're loud? I live 10 miles away from a dirt track, and when they run the sprint cars, etc. I can hear them at my house. No joke! My sister lives about 1 mile away... Damn that's annoying on Fri and Sat nights, hehe

McLaren Mercedes V10 in my sig. Heard it in person last year -- revving to almost 18,000 rpm in qualifying trim. 3 liter naturally aspirated V10. I have to say it is the most insane sound I've ever heard. Nothing like 850hp in an 1150lb car. They sounded like they were about an octave higher than anyone elses, until I found out they were running some kind of funky exhaust header that gave them that sound.
Other than that, a high compression big block sounds nice...

I've been going to Indy for years (everything from F1 to IRL to CART before that). I know that place like the back of my hand. If you need any info let me know...
