Has anybody repaired the seal on their shift control shaft of the 6 speed? Mine's making a mess of the transmission and since everything's apart at the moment I'd like to repair. Unfortunately there's no part number for the seal and the shift control shaft is also discontinued.

Seal OD is 24mm, shaft itself is 14mm, and the seal height is about 6mm.

Alternatively, instead of a new seal if one cannot be found, should I just put some grease on the seal and hope for the best?

It's a 24mm x 14mm x 7mm seal. I went to a supplier and they got me a general purpose oil/grease seal that fit in just fine for just over $2.
