Me too

Dude got too happy with the air wrench. He didnt snap it but he totally mangled the stud and the nut. Luckily he's the one who got to pay for replacing them. This was after I specifically asked them to hand torque the lug nuts...

gone thru two at firestone

at firestone...on the same wheel too--front passenger side. They cross-threaded one and then broke it off...and then a week later when I took my car back for rebalance--they rip the threads off another---absolutely nuts...

I thought I was the only one--but aren't those studs supposed to be pretty strong? Of course it doesn't help when you have very careless folks working on your car.

Slid my camry over a curb in the rain once and busted off three out of five trying to change the flat. That was a scary ride home.

air tools to tighten rims?

Who in their right mind use air tools to tightens their lugnuts. I would use it to snag up the lugnuts in the lowest setting then go with a good torque wrench after. I recommend you tell that to your mechanics cause it has been known to warp rims especialy stock steel rims if the lugnuts are not tightened equally around each rim. I also stripped two of my passenger front lugs just using air tools.

Umm.. i use air tools

It's a lot easier than by hand..

Honestly who torques their lugnuts ?
I am lucky enough to have access to a gas station so i am always using the air tools..

I NEVER broke my lugnuts and i must've takin off each wheel at least 10 times since i bought the car...

Re: Umm.. i use air tools

I started torquing my lug nuts after the first two studs broke..
