Ode to my Maxima

Ode to my Maxima
It's been over a year now, and I still love my car.
Unless you've owned one, you wouldn't understand.
Those who do, know how I feel. Sure, it didn't come in
the color I wanted, and it's an autotragic. Wierd knocking
noises from my rear bumper, a rattling A pillar..too many O2
sensors, and ugly tail lights.....
But there's just something about it, that still stirs my soul.
I got my car as a surprise last year, after I destroyed my
accord coupe, my parents took my insurance money and bought me
a maxima on the word of a friend of theirs. At first I hated
the thought of driving a "grocery getter," a family sedan, a
boat. But as soon as I got behind the wheel I had a change of
heart, I sped from 0-60 in 7 seconds, chirped second in an automatic (first and only time ever... ).. I hit 60 mph and kept
going, past 80, 100, 110, the engine showed no signs of slowing
down. I felt myself pulled back in the seat, heard the comforting
purr of the 3.0 liter v6 as 222 hp pulled me ever nearer to a
traffic ticket.
Since then, there's been no turning back, especially after
discovering the org! It all started with an air filter,
(for fuel efficiency ). But soon a set of springs followed,
then a RSB, then a strut bar, then window tint, a body kit..
Soon I found myself taking it for regular car washes, and
talking to her as I lovingly waxed her lilting contours.
(I need help). My girlfriend's been getting jealous, my wallet
is always empty... but I dont care!
Who would have thought I'd still feel the same after a year, when
she got in a minor accident, why, I almost cried! So, despite
the elementary school art class quality paint job, despite the
pale mustard color, despite the 4 speed slush box, despite the
crappy stock toyo tires that almost got me killed, and despite
the fact that a year after I got my car, they came out with one
with 6 speeds, 255 hp and HID's,
I LOVE MY CAR
You can't put me away, I can see the men in white jackets from a mile
away.
