paintless dent removal is awsome

well i had 3 good dents that have been driving me crazy, and im getting a body kit on in the next few weeks so i was gonna have the whole car painted. But then i stopped and thought about the price compared to how little was wrong with the car, so i had a guy come out and do a few touch up spots on the paint for $115 and then had the dent guy come out for another $150 and the car looks brand new for $265. Im so glad. If anyone in Orlando is thinking about it let me know and ill give ya the guys name and #.

But...

Isn't Dent Doctor $100 per panel? I asked the guy if they had a "whole car package" or something of the sort and he was like "No its $100 per panel flat."

I wanna say Leonia? On Grand ave. Look in the yellow pages. If you can't find them, PM me and I'll look for my invoice and get the # for you.

This is good to hear because I have a series of dings in my hood and a few in the roof thanks to my sister (don't ask). They've been driving me crazy and I really want to get rid of them. I'm probably gonna get that taken care of in the Spring time.

Later,
-Nick

How do you find them?

How do you go about finding people to do this? I would like to get some scratches and rock chips touched up. Do you call regular auto body shops and ask if they do touch ups or is this a whole new field altogether?

No, don't take it to a body shop because they will charge you mucho dinero. Look in the yellow pages under Automobile Body and Repair and look for a Dent Removal place, Dent Doctor or Hail Repair place....so basically, a place that just specializes in dent removal. Tell the guy that you want to drop off your car for the day and remove all the dents and he should do it for ya.

Yeah, quit making enemies..

Actually, if the key marks didn't penentrate your clearcoat, then you can have a professional wetsand the damaged area and it should look like new.

well i'll try to answer some of these questions.
Kashoggio: as far as size they can do pretty much any size as long as the paint hasn't chipped, they do small door dents up to big dents with creases.

vyrus: as far as price the guy i used was 75 for the first dent and 45 each added dent so it was about $150 for the 3 i had. some places do it by panal some do it by the size of each dent just call around.

and as far as scratches and chips they don't do that thus the PAINTLESS dent removal and the guy i had doesn't buff out scratches but im sure some guys do.

i looked him up in the yellow pages under bodywork and there was about 8 of them. Called around and found him. Most of them come right to your house which is what he did so i didn't even have to go anywhere.

This is just my opinion on this but its an experience I had. Some *** keyed my door about a year and a half ago. I didn't do anything about it until some girl hit me with her 4Runner and it was in the shop getting repairs. While it was there I had them touch up the scratch and it came out horrible. It looks like they took a bottle of touch up paint from the local Nissan dealer, smeared it on there and then rubbed it with their finger over the scratch. I would almost rather left it there because now when you see the reflection in the door you see a cm wide streak of rough paint where the scratch was. It doesn't even look smooth. And this was a body shop! Oh well, I guess I am still a little ****ed at how that turned out. Good luck on yours though.

You got it, on the corner of Grand Ave. and Fort Lee Rd. I'll second that shop for awesome work too. My Monte was pegged on the trunklid by an errant golfball (cruising past a driving range), and the spot is still not noticeable, over three years later.

When are the Northeast NJ guys gonna get together?

Yes, they have special tools they use - mainy long rods with different shaped ends. The whole idea is that they get behind the dent and rub the metal around it causing it to heat up (causing expansion) and in most cases they can get it to "stretch" itself back into shape. Occasionally this will also cause a minor discoloration to the area as well.

There are some panels they can't do however. If you have a dent real close to a corner of a panel (where they can't fit their tools in) then they can't do it. And some double walled panels they have a problem with too. Also, I've seen them use ...questionable methods on occasion. Such as drilling a hole in a door jamb so they can get their tool in there to fix a dent in the quarter panel. They then plug the hole with a grommet afterwards. I guess that's fine if you don't mind having a hole in your car.

In some cases they do great work and are definately worth it - in other cases take it to a bodyshop.

Can they fix a dent in the front plastic bumper

I have a dent on my front bumper from some dumb redneck kid who decided to back into me with his big old lifted truck. The ball of his hitch hit my bumper and left a dent. It didn't punch through the plastic, but it left an indentation. It's pretty small and it's in a spot that makes it hardly noticeable to anyone except me, because I know its there. Every time I look at the front of the car, this dent is all I see! So anyway, what can they do with plastic? Anybody know?

Now that you mention it I have seen a few people who have had holes in their door jambs that were filled with rubber grommets/plugs. It all makes sense now.

I just had a Dings Plus guy remove all my dents this morning. On three doors I thought there were four minor dents. But he is professional and saw 2 or 3 more real minor dents. So total six dents all removed for $175 total no tax (or included). To me those area become brand new.
I said to him "I definately need to call you, but I don't want to call you...". He understood what I meant.

BTW the Dings Plus guy said car manufacturers use different metal grade. His experience says most German car has highest grade. MB is little lower than VW. Nissan is low, but Toyota is high ... He could tell when he is working on those metals.

And I'm sure he determines the metal grade but "feel", right. The only way to determine metal grade is running a battery of tests, almost all destructive. I'm sure he has done that.
