Re: Cracking front lip & getting replacement from stillen.

Was it purchased directly from Stillen? I mean is your name one their record as being the original purchaser? They just gave me a cold shoulder when I told them that it was purchased through a dealer.

By the way, anyone want to buy a cracked Stillen front lip from 99 black maxima? =:P

That stinks. I hope the other guy has better luck with it. If they will not support you through a dealer they should let you know up front. Or the dealer should anyhow.

I'm going through this process right now. Just last week I noticed my front lip was cracked. I email Phuong and he told me to take a pic of it and he sent it to Stillen's. Then I had to send a pic of my car to them. I just did that today. Now I'm waiting to see what they are gonna say. I don't know why I needed to send a pic of my car to them.

They want to make sure that people don't use each other's cracked front lips to make warranty claims (to avoid fraud and what not).

How bad exactly is the crack? If it's not that bad how much would you be interested in selling it for? I have a friend that's really good with fiberglass....

Your chances are slim unfortunately. I tried to warranty mine a year ago, and they wouldn't even consider it. Their policy used to be to just send in the piece, or pics, but then too many claims got filed. And now if your lip even has a scratch on it from hitting something, they'll deny your claim. I talked to the shop I bought it from, and to Stillen, and both told me that if the lip has evidence of scrapes or scratches, then it's your fault.

Yeah, I know. Can't you fix urethane with fiberglass though? It was just an idea. I'm unemployed and want a lip bad!!

They can fix it with fiberglass and filler, or they can use a machine that can "weld" the plastic back together.

If they do it right, yes. I don't know about the strength though.
