Maxima nameplate will phase out

Sad news that I read and it’s official confirmation from Nissan will discontinue the Maxima in mid 2023. Here the story

Yep just read this yesterday too. Hoping we get an electric vehicle with the same concepts that drive the Maxima. Large enough to fit your family, fast enough to have a little fun and luxurious enough inside to show off to your friends with a sporty exterior.

I also really like the cockpit design of the interior. I mean I REALLY like the Maxima in general. I just traded in my 16 Max S and I could have bought just about anything under 45k and I ended up buying another Maxima.

yeah it wasn't a surprised when I saw the story, but they did indicate possibly in the future it will be resurrected the name for the electrified model at some point in the future if it does happen. Very likely as a crossover. But with that being said, the Maxima had it good run all up to the 7th gen but with the current gen it's doesn't justify for current car buyer paying over 40k when they can get the Altima cost way less which they move in volumes when someone doesn't want a crossover. The sedan market pretty much has waned in the past few years with a glut of Crossover flooding the market from every manufacturer exception of Dodge and Chrysler.

Oh for sure I'm not surprised by it either. I personally love the 8th gen Maximas too, traded in my 16 for a 19 even, I get that I'm in a pretty small pool of people that love them.

In any case we'll have to see what this suspected electric sedan Nissan and Infiniti are drumming up for 2025 and see if it carries the Maxima name or is a spiritual successor of sorts.

My fingers are crossed its something killer...

I've loved the Maxima all the way back to the 1986 Datsun Maxima that had the talk box in it. Very good cars and a great platform.
