1998 Nissan 3.0L alternator replacement but I have bad memory and need help
Alternator 200$ NEW , Yes I should have paid attention but it was one thing after another first the OTHER idiot I got the car from I guess tried to take off the alternator the idler pulley bolt was mangled beyond belief so I walked to my auto store and bought a bolt splitter but because the space was so tight it just kept slipping off -20$ so I borrowed a drill and used it to basically split the bolt myself it started turning once off I realized I drilled through almost every piece -66$ I got one coming.
Back to the hood after that I started taking off brackets wires and all that but since I was irritated pouring sweat and working in the sand I pulled everything off and made sure the bolts were all together, now 6 days later and other stripped and broken parts I got the new one on and the bottom bolt is as tight as I can get it and the alternator is pushed up all the way
i can basically figure out the wiring it’s not going to be a issue, I know there is a harness on a bracket that also goes on there but I remember that one because it was the first thing I pulled off I’m having problems getting this bracket back on. This is a screenshot from a YouTube video, I had to watch a bunch of them until I could see the part I didn’t know where to put. FROM A YOUTUBE VIDEO NOT MY CAR Same photo zoomed on to the specific bracket It seems like no matter which bolt i finally get threaded in the other one is slightly misaligned, I checked and the alternator is pushed up as much as it can be
i checked after getting the old one off and the new alternator looked identical to me only difference is this one is as 125A alternator not 110
it was faster cheaper and easier to get
i dont know what to do , there is no one that can help at the top if I loosen the bottom I tried it by myself and couldn’t do it, I only have a few hours a day to work on it, my wife needs a new car and I bought this one as a surprise for her just replacing the few things it needs but seems to be in decent condition for the year so I have to work on it when I’m here and she is at work so very limited time which is why it’s taken almost a week to get it on (yes the AC is being held up) also the ac compressed wouldn’t align properly, please tell me I don’t need to remount it that really sucked holding up a heavy alternator and getting that bolt in
Yes I have replaced many alternators and other parts before this is not my first time this car just has every bolt pre stripped and or behind something or in a tight and awkward position/spot. If I loosen the bolt how do I hold up the alternator in the right spot while holding the bracket in the right spot while threading In the bolts by myself?
please help
