Hi Tilley

This seems so complicated (I was reading your posts on the PA-MAX website).

When you say internals, do you mean pistons/rings/conrods, camshaft, crank ...basically everything?

Could I ask why you did this as opposed to getting custom pistons etc made from Arias or JDM? I am guessing it is cheaper to do it this way? Or is it more challenging?

It just seems to me that you could build your own custom turbo kit for the same amount of effort. (price I don't know)

This is going to be awesome is all I can say right now! My turbo piping is being done right now. I am hoping to have it running by the end of this week. I am hoping to fortify engine components later ,that's why all the questions about engine components.

Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: nice job tilley

My whole reason for using the VQ30DET is it is designed to use a turbo It has lower compression 9.0to1 compared to 10.0to 1 has higher quality crank rods and pistons. Plus the intake manifold is just awesome it has no runners. Im switching to the wiring for the cima too with that I will have 280hp/285tq with 6psi this motor also has 370cc injectors. Any more ? ask me on the pa-maximas board. Im about feed up with alot of people here.

The engine cost 1750 with ECU and all the parts I bought like fuel pump/muffler/3"flex/poly mounts/and some various flanges and gaskets I got about 3k so far but I got almost everything I need. The labor is free cause Im doing it myself, thanks to my dad for suppling me a place with lift/welder and about anything else I need.

Hehe! Hopefully, Tilley should be able to hit about 300HP+ with 6 psi. 280 is usually with S/C which steals some HP. Turbos are a little more efficient ... but suffer lag (always have to give somewhere!) 16 psi huh? Whoa! You changing your tranny too? I agree with bronco, you'll take down those Acuras and maybe even M3s a notch or two.

Hehe! I am with you man! That's why I am getting my Turbo in right now! Can the DET internals handle that kind of boost? If so I WANT ONE! Stock Maxes can run about 11-12 psi ... from what I have seen on the S/C maxes. Do you know of any Q45s that have boosted that high? I guess Q45s are not for the performance enthusiast, but I could be wrong!

I think he meant the guy had to change the timing cover because it has a slight different shape and hits the stock crank pulley.

Basically, a sequential twin setup like the Supra/RX7 TT systems. Use the T3 for low(er) end and faster spool, when you reach a certain vacuum level, the Hobbs switch opens up the T3/T4. I like it.
