how to remove scratches from glass.

Hey guys,

This is a little OT but I was wondering how to remove some scratches from glass. Some punk *** SOB (I'm being kind here sandpapered my passenger side window and I don't want to spend all that money for a new window. I was wondering if there is anything I can do to somehow get rid of it or even make it less noticable. Would a glass repair shop be able to do this? Thanks.

Regards,
Mike H.

When you say "sandpapered" I assume you mean nothing so deep that you can catch a fingernail on it, right?? If it is just surface scratches many autoglass companies can polish most of them out. It takes special compounds and buffers and a little expertise. I would recommend that you (or the glass company) remove the window from the door to prevent any accidental contact with chrome or painted surfaces. Good luck!

I'm afraid there are some places where it gets caught. All I'm trying to do is minimize as much as I can. The bad area is not at a very visible location (you actually have to look for it but once you do, you can't take your eyes off it). I'll ask my tint shop and see what they recommend. I thought there was something I can do myself, but it looks like I need professional help. Thanks.
