My First REAL Kill in the Maxima

I had my first worthy kill in the Maxima over the weekend.

Toyota Camry Solara SE V6 gets owned

I'm not sure if it was a 5spd or not but he seemed to have a good bit of power so I think maybe it was the 5spd but who knows. I was sorta playing with him in traffic a few minutes before. We finally hit this extremely long straightaway that was free of traffic as I got past the last idiot holding up everyone and then got on it in 5th for the straighaway. The Solara followed and was gaining on me over in the other lane as I was coming through 80 and then 90 mph. It looked like he was going for it so I just buried it in 5th.

cya!

He stayed pretty close until about 110 when I really started pulling away. Got it up to 120 and he was a good 10 car-lengths or so back and then I shut it down because of traffic coming up ahead.

GD...5th gear in the Maxima is awesome. I can't believe how hard it pulls - I didn't even need to downshift. And in spite of the short gearing I'm still getting better highway mileage than I did in the Accord V6 with its huge/boggy and useless for racing 0.61:1 OD gear.

if you were in 5th gear at 80 mph and beat him

then he surely was not a 5spd

I think you're probably right. If it was really a 5spd I would have expected the race to be a lot closer. But in that case...

...5spd power baby!

You can get the Solara SE V6 Coupes with either a 5MT or a 4AT, which is why I wasn't sure which tranny it had. The SLE V6's are 4AT only, and all Solara convertibles are auto-only as well.

I recognize that car. I'm pretty sure Deez has a 4-banger 5spd. I think it's turbo'ed now too. Definitely not the V6 Accord though

Same goes for the 5thgen IMO. I love 4th gear! Most people like 3rd but as Sprint says 4th is the bye bye gear.
